Did you go into the main menu of the xbox and enable Dolby Digital and DTS?

I think that may be part of my problem. I powered on my Xbox with no game in it, went into the settings, then audio and the only selections I had were mono, stereo, and dolby surround. I cannot find a selection for DTS or Dolby 5.1 anywhere in the menus. Can you please tell me where you found your setting?

Thanks

I think that the "dashboard" in the X-Box is never in Dolby 5.1. Mine does not process the signal until after I insert the game. By the way, Halo is pretty cool in 5.1. Good luck.

I have the High Def AV kit, but when I went in to the dashboard I saw the options for DD and DTS.

If I were you I would check the connections (unplug and replug everything). Make sure the digital input is set to the corresponding button on your receiver (if that's necessary, it is on mine) and try it again. If that doesn't work and you have a spare optical cable try swapping them out. Finally, if that doesn't work either call Microsoft's support line or take the AV pack back to the store and swap it out as it's probably defective.
