I've been the main one beating the AI drum over the past few months, so I'll chime in and try to elaborate.
The pixelization issues have always been a problem with AI, for some reason, but this past Tuesday there was no pixelization (as I posted earlier), just video "skips." For example, the video would just pause and then skip forward about a second or less ahead. Perhaps that was related to the t-storms, I dunno.
The AUDIO dropouts are the most annoying though. These occur in particular on the digital output of my 8000HD DVR. I know this because my wife watches AI via the Surround Sound receiver and it is very obvious when the audio drops out...as the receiver volume is much higher than the TV's volume (via analog "RCA" input, btw). As I've said before, perhaps the problem that results in "drops" via the digital receiver manifest themselves as "static" via the analog input and aren't as noticeable for that reason. Strangely, these *seem* to occur most often during an actual singing performance, making them even *more* annoying. Of course, this could just be our perception playing tricks on us, as those are the parts that we pay the most attention to.
As I've posted before, these video and audio issues occur only on "AI" on FOXHD and "Lost" on ABC-HD for us, because those are the only network HD programming that we watch regularly. All other HD channels (INHD, DiscHD, ESPNHD) are blissfully free of such problems.
Hope that helps.
