Chef's Table is great but like someone said it was because of the camera work. The 3 current Marvel series are pretty dark and drab and I doubt HDR would help Luke Cage or Jessica Jones.
I would love to see Gotham in HDR. I looks amazing in 1080p as it is.

Chefs table looks great because of the cinematography but I think the extra range of color really adds to it. I don't think the HDR in that show is about the range of brights to darks nearly as much as it is about the color.

All the seasons of Chefs Table look fantastic in 4K with great cinematography and scenery. But the France episodes in HDR definitely stand out.

I think Netflix could easily remaster seasons 1 and 2 to HDR, judging by the quality of the footage.

The problem with Chefs Table is that it is in French and you need to read the subtitles all the time which means you can't enjoy the HDR.

Do you also have an Xbox One S? Otherwise you won't get the forced HDR settings.

I have an XB1S, but never use it to watch Netflix or Amazon since both my TVs have the built in app. Especially now that I got the PS4 Pro, the Xbox is collecting dust unless I'm watching a UHD movie.

Anyway, I guess folks already confirmed that your issue is the XB1S wrongfully giving all Netflix shows HDR. This console has been out six months and still has issues.

I haven't seen "Lucy" that apparently is visually stunning, but based on recommendations I had a blast watching "Pacific Rim" and "The Shallows". If you are like me and struggle with some of the UHD blu-rays having almost too much shadow detail .. all the titles listed above didn't have those issues on my tv and the HDR was impressive.
I agree with all except Mad Max Fury Road and Batman vs. Superman but I'm not a fan of any of the Mad Max movies so might be a little biased. I didn't care for the video of Batman vs. Superman at all either.

You're not reading a scientific paper, there's plenty time to enjoy the scenery while glancing at the subtitles.

I don't find it distracting, but I live in a country with a lot of foreign language TV and movies, and no dubbing or voice overs, so subtitles are the norm here.

Meridian really highlights how bitrate starved the stream is. The skies have a ton of noise. I wonder what the bitrate is, if it is ~20mbps like their other 4K content it must really struggle with the 60fps.

I'm sure Meridian is interesting from a technical and an encoding viewpoint, but a HDR tv owner looking to be awed can find much better.

Be careful though. The people how have uploaded many of the demos (already linked in the first post of this thread) have changed all the soundtracks . LG Jazz is totally ridiculous with the wrong soundtrack. It's ludicrous. See the first post for the proper version.

I think you just need a little more practice. Stick with it, it soon becomes second nature trust me. I presume you don't need to stop your car to read road signs; it's just about training to read text as a background activity.

They're not the norm here in the UK either but if you don't learn how to enjoy subtitles you're missing out on a MASSIVE amount of fantastic TV. Borgen for one. And Pan's Labyrinth was the best movie of that year by absolutely miles. Guillermo del Toro is a genius. He made an incredible movie that just happens to be in Spanish. Dubbing is possible but it comes a poor second.

You can download the NASA and LG demos in the first post and don't have to put up with YT compression and Chromecast Ultra
But I agree, YT better get going and update Android TV YT and other TV manufacturer apps soon...

Also yeah, Meridian was mindblowing from a technical standpoint. HFR, HDR... wow.

And I agree, Chefs Table France blew me away as well. Amazing content all around. I want to watch the other "season" but hope it will get an HDR remaster at some point... but considering Netflix' pace...

With Amazon putting out so much quality HDR, I am beginning to think netflix has something that they cannot figure out. Makes no sense.

Hdr is only as good as how it is filmed. This is why The Revenant is so good. It was filmed with natural light so the HDR grade could be very natural looking and brought out the image as it was captured. Some of amazon's productions were captured with hdr in mind the whole time. Now you can use hdr on anything but if it was conceived from the beginning with hdr in mind the cinematography and direction can help capture the best lighting etc. anything filmed outside will be easier than indoors for hdr grading because natural light is easier to work with and creates a more realistic picture.

Any lip sync / audio delay issues with 4K Bourne titles?

Hey guys - Last night I watched the Jason Bourne 4K Blu-ray on my Panasonic UB900 playing through the Marantz 8802a to a JVC RS500 projector and there was an odd lip sync issue. The movie started fine, but as it progressed it started to get worse and worse and by the middle of the film it was way off. I want to emphasize that this is not a typical "oh you need to set the Audio Delay" for lip sync. This was set and fine. But got progressively worse throughout the film. Stopping and restarting the movie, and then skipping to where I left off, resolved the issue for me and others.

I posted about this in the UB900 thread and several people have already reported they have seen this same behavior with the Bourne titles. This is the only DTS:X disc I've watched so far, so I don't know if this is perhaps a playback bug with DTS:X in the UB900 or perhaps in the 8802a, or if its some sort of mastering bug with the Bourne titles themselves (or if perhaps all DTS:X titles will do this in my setup). I've watched over a dozen Atmos titles and have not had any issue with lip sync at all, unlike this Bourne title.

Please see the more detailed report here: Panasonic DMP-UB900 thread.

Has anyone else had this type of unusual lip sync issue? If so, please list what your UHD player is, what your AVR or pre-processor is, and what your display type is. Thanks!

I'm watching Bourne Identity on vudu from my code when buying the uhd collection. I watched the DV stream first based on Ray saying the disc stunk. This is not that bad. I'll check out the disc when done.
Maybe they screwed up the transfer? It's not great at all but average.

Let's not turn this into DV VS HDR10 debate. Not the point.

Edit:

I jumped around on the disc and it seems duller, not as sharp. Hard to say.

I thought I would see more about this new set but so far, not so much. Glad I stole it during the BB ooops sale.
