MR4KUPSCALER (I think that's his name) from YouTube did a video review of it when he got his first OLED, and he thought it looked spectacular. I got a $5 credit from VUDU, so to get it for $15 with the sale that's going on, I might as well bite. I have all the other 30 or so Dolby Vision movies I was interested in.

I own both on VUDU. They both look great, but I give the edge to Pacific Rim. Lots of DV eye candy. Lots of neon city lights. The Gypsy Danger Kaiju battle in the city is one of my favorite DV scenes. Just my 2 cents. You can't go wrong with either one.

A quick google search shows that everyone is on board for the sequel and a great script has been drafted that ties into the 1st movie. The biggest issue right now is time for all the stars to get back together for it so it may take a couple years but as of right now its in the works.
I would have never guessed there would be a sequel to this movie.

Anyone have any comments about the video quality for "Unforgiven" on Vudu? I've never seen the movie and since it's from 1992 I'm concerned that it won't be great as far as video quality.

Unforgiven just had a major 4k restoration effort done for the 25th anniversary and the master was approved by Eastwood himself. I doubt it's going to look incredible by modern standards, but films from the 90s can look fantastic in 4k hdr if handled properly. Crouching tiger looked great.

Those two have UV UHD codes, so I'd be patient and find those for ten bux or less from code sellers. And, yes, they are quality and the Atmos track on Mad Max is great.

All this talk about Edge of Tomorrow leads me to say:

*Naked* (Groundhog Day-ish movie) in DV on Netflix looks pretty good.

If they had HDR10 then I would purchase Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow.

Their loss I guess. I've been using Vudu for almost ten years now. And their lack of HDR10 is definitely preventing me from purchasing anything from them now.

Well, yeah, the news that having the code from 4k discs redeem in HD only I'm sure helped pad your numbers from those that rushed out and bought the digital UHD then.

I'm only half kidding...only a small minority buys UHD, and I'm sure even a smaller miniscule amount of people keep up with code redeem news.

Alot of peeps will have a rude awakening redeeming their code come August 22nd.

With the remaster there is a good amount of detail, especially for an older movie. You'll notice some grainy scenes, but I was surprised by the overall detail and quality (in a good way.) The HDR is actually very solid for what the movie is. There is good sun reflection highlights in the outdoor scenes, and in the dark indoor scenes (there are a lot of them), the lamps have a really nice glow. I was pleasantly surprised, but I wouldn't really demo it. A solid tier 2 UHD movie, IMO.

Especially as a while ago, I believe last year, they said they would support hdr10 also but never mentioned a date. I have to wonder if there is some exclusivity for Dolby that needs to expire first.

It's strange that the 4k download won't be included. Either way I have preordered the 4k disc with Best Buy and will stick to the disc vs streaming. Just waiting on BB to ship it out, but haven't heard anything. Won't surprise me if it's late.

I saw on the Vudu Forums today that they are hoping to have HDR10 by the end of this year. They are working on it and that is their plan. But they said that could always change too.

I believe the first UHD movies to hit Vudu was around Halloween 2015. If it's a 24 month agreement for DV only exclusives, it should expire around then.

No.

But now that you mention it, I did follow a conversation over at bluray.com where Stacy Spears of spectracal was made aware of this issue and he was going to investigate it. Should have more info soon because more players with Dolby Vision will be available.

I mentioned earlier that I noticed something similar when watching a 3D movie with letterbox, in my right eye only. I have a feeling it's something to do with the way adjustment layers are encoded, as I have a feeling the adjustment to 3D and the adjustment to DV are similar in a lot of ways.

I went ahead and purchased Edge of Tomorrow DV on Vudu. I did a quick comparison to the bluray. The bluray does look great, but the Vudu DV version looks even better to me. Noticeable uptick in detail and depth. Especially during the beach battle scenes. Like some have said though, dont go looking for blinding highlights and the colors are somewhat muted. Is it worth $20? That's up to u. Haha. I had a $3 credit so that helped.

Yes, it was October 2015.
Digging further, it looks like DV was added to the Vudu UHD titles on November 17th of 2015.

With the new Movies Anywhere debuting and and the potential DV exclusivity ending on Vudu, we can see a lot more avenues open up to view "Digital UHD"... especially from code redemptions.

I concur. There is a noticeable uptick in details. I thought it looked decent up until the point of the initial beach battle scene. Then the picture just looks incredible. Pleasantly surprised at how well this movie looked. And I too had a credit. Only paid $15 for the movie.
