Mass Effect Andromeda : FIRST DOLBY VISION GAME

Patch 1.08 has been released a few hours ago... It includes DOLBY VISION SUPPORT

To make it work you need:

- Nvidia card series 9xx minimum
- Set the PC settings to RGB complete

Then start the game, it will start has HDR, go to the options and select Dolby Vision, then go to screen calibration and enjoy seeing this *---------*

(Translation: Your monitor is already calibrated with Dolby Vision)

Because Dolby Vision means... No more clipping! REAL BT.2020 (Not DCI-P3 on BT.2020 container)!

The colours... Oh my god the colours... BTW, i didnt noticed any high input lag!

Tested on a E6

But you can tell a massive difference in the colors, huh? Any other differences, like with color banding or shadow detail?

didnt saw any banding for now, also for shadow detail, Dolby Vision is perfect, does not allow clip on detail, it looks amazing

I have tried it. Dolby vision is a huge upgrade over HDR10, especially in terms of dark levels and the reduction of banding (the banding was terrible in HDR10). It looks insane. However it is only possible in 1080/60 and 2160p/30 due to what I believe is HDMI cable limitations. 2160/30 is almost unplayable due to high input lag, but 1080/60 is playable and looks good.

btw I use the windows creators update and Nvidia driver 378.92. Do not know if it works using more current drivers. Any update on whether it works using more recent drivers or in other resolutions would be nice.

"- Nvidia card series 9xx minimum

The 9xx series cards have HDMI 1.4b.

Nice to be vindicated that DV will work on older GFX cards and PCs finally and is a 100% software solution on the source electronics side. I had to reassure people to that fact countless times on this forum.

This also means that DV support will likely eventually be added to Xbox One and PS4 (original versions).

Using my GTX 1080TI I can verify 4K@59.94hz does indeed work. Very impressive results as I was already satisfied with the HDR10 implementation, but Dolby Vision takes it to another level. My only gripe is that my AVR(Denon X4300H) won't pass the DV signal so I have to figure out a way to send my audio from the GPU another way.

I'm thinking since I have two GPUs(using laptop with graphics AMP) I might be able to pull something off.

LG 65C7, Denon X4300H, Klipsch RF-26 x 2, RC-52 II, Onkyo speakers in 5.1.4 setup

How exactly have you got 4k/60 to work? what nvidia display settings are you using? and which windows and nvidia driver versions? you are the first one on the internet who has got it to work. Are you using a special cable?

Using rgb I haven't had any issues. I'm using driver 382.33 on Windows 10 I will make a video of all this on Thursday.

Yes. Just set evening to RGB and it worked fine for me. On Thursday when I get my dp->hdmi cable for audio I'll show how it's done.

I didn't even know people were settling with this. Patch notes made it clear on what to do.

What patch notes? please link. The patch notes for 1.08 can be found here: http://blog.bioware.com/2017/06/06/m...ch-1-08-notes/
and only say: PC] Added experimental support for Dolby Vision™ technology

how do you activate RGB when in HDR in windows? I cannot activate them at the same time. I dont think you have the creators update installed since it is not possible to activate HDR in mass effect if you have the creators update and use the three more recent nvidia drivers. Tried your driver and it did not work. An easy way to find out if you have the creators update is to check if you are able to display windows in HDR. There should be a HDR toggle under display settings. If there is not, you have an older version of windows, explaining why you are able to display dolby vision in 4K60 while most people are not able to do so.

The only way I can get HDR to work for ME:A is to use default color settings in Nvidia control panel under change resolution. Then in display settings turn HDR and Advanced Color on, this makes desktop washed out, dark, dim, grey. Start ME:A in settings turn HDR to off, yes to off. After applying this settings HDR logo pops up on my display. The game is displayed in HDR10. It still says HDR is off in my Video output settings in game but it does work in HDR10 since my display detects it and gives only HDR10 picture settings options. Oh, you can also easily tell it's running in HDR.

Okay guys I found something that does a better job for now. In Nvidia control panel select YCbCr 422, 10bit limited, as soon as you click HDR should pop if it doesn't just haed to display settings and Turn on HDR and advanced Color on. The should boot up in HDR if it doesn't just turn hdr to off in game settings click apply and it will be in HDR. Auto detect does not work for me. In Shadow Warrior 2 I have turn HDR off in game settings to get the HDR to work. Seems like both Win10 HDR Mode and Nvidia drivers are causing problem. I am using the latest Drivers.

Hello

Yesterday i innstalled windows 10 creators update, and now i cant even use HDR anymore in mass effect. Before i innstalled creatores update mass effect started up in HDR, but fails after the update. I also have a LG 2017mod non oled with DV, but cant get it to work. The game says dolby vision is enabled, but the picture is totally redish and ruined.

Can someone help me here plz

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english!

As I wrote in my post, You cannot activate HDR in mass effect if you have the creators update installed and use one of the three most recent nvidia drivers. To get it working if you have the creators update installed you need to install nvidia driver 378.92, which is an old driver.Using that driver, both HDR10 and dolby vision should work. If you get a red screen, just shift between HDR10 and dolby vision and you should get dolby vision working using that driver.

Looking forward to the video! Make sure that you have the windows creators update and the latest nvidia driver installed (best if you can show us in the video) and show us step by step how you get mass effect in 4k/60 with dolby vision activated. I really hope it works as you say since playing the game in 1080/60 with dolby vision is far from optimal for me (but better than 4k/30).

I did mention a work around to get it working, works for me with the most current drivers and creators update.

What's the point of the HDR option in the Creators Update display settings? Is it some "fake" HDR mode for Windows?

Using Windows 10 with Creator's Update and latest Nvidia drivers 382.33 Dolby Vision works for me without a hitch. I strongly recommend to play this game in 1080p/120hz if you have the ability to do so.

Dolby Atmos in this is great also!

After some testing I can confirm that dolby vision do work using driver 382.33 on the creators update if you set the pc to RGB full before starting andromeda. However, again, it only works in 1080/60 and 4k/30. It is not possible to activate dolby vision in 4k/60, at least not on my 2016 b6 oled. My guess is that it only works on 2017 oleds, explaining why Bahn Yuki was able to do it on his tv while most people are not able to do so (just check neogaf). It is not a result of confusion/limited knowledge of how windows work, as Bahn Yuki says in this video. Instead, I think it may have something to do with the tvs and how they handle the hdmi outputs or refresh rates. For example the 7 series can handle 120hz while the 6 series cannot do so. And 2017 oleds will get (or already have) DV game mode, while the 2016 ones do not.

If there are more people out there who owns 2017 and 2016 oleds, please try the settings in Bahn Yukis video so we can get a confirmation that 4k/60 is only possible on 2017 oleds. However, the fact that no one on the internet has managed to get 4k/60 to work in DV on a 2016 oled so far strongly suggest that it is not possible.

Dolby Atmos in this is great also!
Also tried your solution He-man22, and using that HDR is not displayed correctly. If the HDR is not activated in game you get a messed up HDR with lots of black crush. does not look good. HDR must be activated in game for it to look correct.
