Cool! I will make tentative plans to attend. We are in the process of selling our home and house hunting, so if I have to bail last minute please understand. Keep me updated on the progress. PM with address, etc.

I have been patiently awaiting the day i can set up my boxed up gear again!

Good to see some local n.e.o members who want to gtg. It will be good to share thoughts and ideas. I think we will all bring a unique perspective since no two systems are alike. I have been a audio equipment fan since I bought my first component system when I was 13. I tend to focus more on the audio side of things. I know some guys are more videophiles. My "starter" pj is just a 720p optoma but it fits my needs. I honestly have no idea what a CIH scope is but would like to learn. Let me know if you intend to come and I will pm my address. I live off nobottom rd in Berea.

If 3 or 4 pm would be better for most of you I'm not opposed to that

I think 2pm will be fine for me, but if others need a later time that will work too.

And I'd be very interested in your thoughts on improving the sound of our HT system, Greg. It would be good to hear yours, then host an event so you could hear ours.

I think a 3pm start for the event would work for me, but we might have to vote on a time. I also think we should slot agenda items for members to lead. If this be so, I would be more then happy to lead the media extending agenda discussion. If this be so, let me know and I'll bring hand outs and disc with the required shareware for the event. Bartman....sorry to seem like I'm hijacking the meet, but you if anyone know how I am.

No problem Tony, just don't bring a box cutter. Seriously, I'm sure we will all have some input. Pleas bring the handout and disc. I am able to share music thru my uverse system and I also have netflix thru a 360 if anyone is interested. I'm sure you have a lot more knowledge on ms than I do. Anyone else who has an agenda to the meet please chime in.

Do you have blu ray? Would like to try some of my discs with the lossless audio codecs, if you are set up for that.

Other than that, I'd just like to share others' passion for this hobby and see your dream setup and compare notes.

Sweet! Which Receiver/player do you have? I have a Panasonic BD-55 and a Marantz SR6003. The receiver is boxed up in my basement so I have not been able to try the lossless audio. I have to wait until we move into a house with an area I can relegate to HT.

Nice electronics! What are your speakers/sub?

I have Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1 L/R. I have an old B&W 600 series center. I sold my surrounds while everything is in storage, so nothing there. My sub is a D.I.Y.'d Rythmik Servo 12". I plan on picking up a matching Sierra-1 center speaker, and possibly doing a D.I.Y. set of surrounds.

I'm not sure I'll be able to contribute anything to the agenda circuit, but I look forward to hear what everyone has to say.

Greg, you have a 360? I didn't know that. Do you like pinball at all?

Is your house on Mapquest, Yahoo! Maps, etc. yet? I know I added your house via Mapshare with my Tomtom gps unit, but I don't know if it's been added to any map revisions since.

Is Mapshare a free service? Can I use it with my Garmin Nuvi? I guess I should check it out since the mapquest link g-bartman sent me has no homes or actual streets in the aerial view, which means my GPS for sure won't have it in it's outdated maps.

Mapshare is strictly a Tomtom thing. It's an easy way to submit map corrections in case there are things missing, or locations are messed up, etc.

Once we firm the amount of members that's coming I'll make the disc and handouts. I use a 360, ps3, and a linksys DMA2200 for extending, so hopefully if you have vista media center I can do a little show and tell.

My street is on mapquest. It isa newer street so some gps units do not have it. I sent links to everyone who said they are coming. I can send it to you too George if you need it. I have a pinball game for my 360, it is a lot of fun. My favorite games are forza and need for speed. I have a force back wheel, it's a blast. I have vista but am not familiar with their media share Tony. I don't have a pc in the basement where my ht is, it's upstairs. If anyone has a laptop, that might be an option. Just for everyone's info, I have blu-ray, hd-dvd, sacd and dvd-audio, a music server and a good old turntable. I can demo anything that anyone is interested in. I would like to demo some 2 channel and multi channel music. I have a scene from the latest terminator disc and from pearl harbor that I like to show. I would like this to be an exchange of ideas and a chance to get to know what makes my fellow t geeks tick.

I have a handful of HD-DVDs and Blurays. Do you have Serenity on either? Even in plain old DTS this sounded fantastic.

George, I had a chance to listen to some Martin Logans at a store in Solon. The thing that was strange to me, and this is strictly in comparison with conventional, dynamic cone speakers, was how the high frequencies literally disappeared on the ML's when I stood up. The sales guy said that this was due to the controlled dispersion which reduced ceiling and floor reflections. While seated in the sweet spot they sounded great, but stand up and "poof", no more top end. That would take some getting used to. Anyhow, you have a pretty nice setup!

I don't have serenity so feel free to bring it if you like. In answer to your earlier question, I have definitive technology speakers. 6 of them are bipolar. Th e main l/r have the powered woofers in them. I also have 3 stand alone subs.

Have you at least seen Serenity? And the show that spawned it, Firefly? They're terrific if you haven't seen them.

Hotdigity, yeah, my ML's sound great when seated, but do lose something when standing up. But, in my opinion if I'm going to be doing any kind of critical listening, I'll be seated to enjoy the music, movie, etc. If I'm standing, I'm probably just walking around cleaning, working on something and the music is simply background noise anyway. It's still quite enjoyable though. I love my speakers, they make my room sound bigger than it is. One day I'll have a basement and be able to have a nice dedicated room, but until then, I'm going to make do.

I never watched Firefly, but I really enjoyed Serenity. The only show that the Sy-Fy channel got me hooked on was Battlestar Gallatica, and now I watch Caprica. I can bring Serenity on HD-DVD.

No basement? In Cleveland?? I like having a basement, though it is unfinished, just for the storage space alone. A finished basement is high on our priority list for our next house. We looked at one in Strongsville that had an enormous finished basement with a half bath. Probably a good 1500 sq. ft. down there of living area. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

My house is the only one I've seen on my street (and it's a main thoroughfare) without a basement. Not happy with my choice 14 years ago.

So far no conflicts on my calendar.
I know about a half/dozen people that live only a short walk from your house.

I should be down. Floyd (fotto) sent me the link as I am in the early stage of getting my home theater going, although very little will be DIY.

Probably also bring my friend Ted (T3ddyG).

In the meantime, does anyone have any good experience with local contractors? I have had 3 out thus far, only 1 seems promising.

May be you can get some good ideas to incorperate into your theater.
Are you going to use a projector, 5.1 or 7.1? Lots to think about.
Are you looking for a full install contractor or just someone to run wire?

7.1, looking to finish my basement. i actually have a thread going on the dedicated theater forum where I've received some great advice from Ted White and others:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...6#post18228756

I need someone to do the framing, drywall, and installation of the bathroom and wet bar/kitchenette.

I can do wiring (and trust me I have a ton planned) and thats about it.
