smckenzie04,
Welcome. I work for Christenson, and I have worked for Ray on a number of occasions. He also introduced me to the group.

Yamaki,
Welcome! There are some audiophiles in this group as well. I would call myself an audiophile if my budget permitted me to. smile.gif

That is just so not fair. smile.gif anybody know a good, corrupt anesthesiologist I can hire to put my family under for a few hours while I sneak over?

Jason,
Thanks for hosting. I wish we could have stayed longer. That hour + went by in a blink. We didn't make it past the three cabinets. My kids eyes were popping out of their sockets with disbelief. eek.gif

Did anyone else make it over there? I think we left about 4:15 and no one else had shown yet.

Thanks for attending Jamie, hope it was a good time for the kids.

Nobody else showed up so we played for a bit since everything was running (which I figured might pop a breaker but both rooms ran for hours with no issues, although the main HT volume was turned way down).

If interested, you are welcome to come back and play games or watch a flick (maybe some 3D).

Take care,
Jason

That's too bad. I must say you guys missed out. The setup Jason had was VERY impressive. Not only were the cabinets up and running, but he had the 133" ready with the huge arcade stick and 3D gaming (which I regrettably did not get the chance to try). He also had the second room available with the racing seat, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc. It was a gamer's paradise. Jason, I would love to come back soon and try some of the other toys!

Only reason I didn't stay longer is that I was invited to the Trailblazer game last evening with court side seats. That was pretty incredible.

Jamie,

Well no doubt there, easy choice, do you stay and play an NBA Basketball game or do you go to one and sit 'courtside' ... biggrin.gif

My dad had box seats when we lived in Sacramento and it was awesome, been to a couple Blazer games as well and it was great.

Thanks for the kind words, let me know when you have the time to come by and we'll set it up. wink.gif

Nathan,

When you have the time shoot me a pm and we can set something up. wink.gif

Jason

Funny you ask. I was sizing up a couple of those guys during warm ups. I had myself believing I could possibly hang with them for a few minutes...then they started playing! eek.gif It's impossible to grasp the speed and physicality of the NBA from TV and/or the "cheap" seats. Sitting that close to the action is totally different and they are HUGE.

I think Sacramento has one of the best NBA fan bases, so I bet that was awesome.

If you get any PM's from folks and decide to set it up for them, let me know. I'm fairly flexible (mostly dependent on kids schedules) and would love to hang out with some of the others I've met before or meet some new HT enthusiasts.

Again, I HIGHLY recommend anyone considering taking Jason up on his offer to do it. You don't even have to be a gamer (I'm not), simply seeing his setup is worth the trip.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I have a 100" electric matte white Elite screen in great condition (black case) that I will be posting on CL but figured I would post it here first to see if anyone in the local group is interested.

I am including some large sized L brackets to use for mounting if you want it to drop down in front of a tv, I think they come out about 18 inches (these were an additional $25).

I will also include a long white heavy duty extension cord to supply power (I think it is ~ 20').

This is the same exact screen and it will come with everything just as new including the box... http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Screens-ELECTRIC100H-Electric-Projection/dp/B000YTRFEG

$140 takes it or I will sell the screen without the L brackets and extension cord for $125.

It must be picked up as I do not have a vehicle that can transport it.

Thanks,
Jason

Hey all, how are things?

I just thought I'd mention that after literally years of waiting I finally upgraded my speakers. I'd wanted the fantastic Epos Epic 2's since I first read their review in Stereophile a few years back. Sadly, they were just a little out of my price range per speaker. As it turns out, Music Direct is selling them for 50% off to make way for their new lineup, so I pulled the trigger on two pairs. Now I have a new L-C-R setup plus a spare for when one of my kids inevitably skewers one with a light saber.

Now I just hope I don't have to wait so friggin' long to pick up my AVR. I'm aiming to get a Pioneer Elite before they go the way of the Kuro.

Hey all, hope everyone is doing well. I'm loving my speakers, but my AVR is in desperate need of a replacement....perhaps you guys can help.

I was looking to spend a bit of money on my next AVR, but since it was to be a long-term solution, HDCP 2.2 is a must. So I've decided to get a cheaper AVR to hold me over until next year when 2.2 is everywhere. It also means I probably won't get to buy a Pioneer Elite, which was my #1 choice(due mainly to D3 amplification), but likely won't exist next year.

My budget is $350-$450. It seems like I can get more for my money if I get an older model. Top priority for me is sound quality and muscle; my speakers are 4-ohm standmounters so they're a bit thirsty. Reliability is also important.

My current choices, based on my limited Amazon sleuthing, are:
Marantz NR1403 slim line 5.1 $346.99
Denon AVR-E400 7.1 $349
Denon AVR-X1000 5.1 $348.88
Pioneer VSX-1124 7.2 $346.99
Onkyo TX-NR636 7.2 $448.06

I'm also open to going used if the value is good enough. The only reason I'm even considering the Onkyo is it has Atmos, which is a direction I'm interested in. The others are more or less neck-and-neck for various reasons. I wish I could glean anything remotely useful from the wattage ratings these guys publish.

Anyone have any advice for me?

Everyone,

I know I have not been on here a while, but I lost my home theater a couple years ago to moving around and needing space for other things :-(.

In any case, I was hanging onto my sound panels for the "just in case" scenario of getting one going again, but looks like those cards are not in my future. So if any of you are interested in buying them, let me know!

QTY(2) black felt 2ft x 4ft x 2" thick
QTY(2) black felt 2ft x 4ft x 4" thick
QTY(2) sail cloth 4ft x 5ft x 2" thick (these are behind the curtains in the picture.

I was hoping to sell the all the above for about $200, non-smoking house, excellent condition.

If your interested PM me, I live in Hillsboro.

Thanks and hope everyone is having a great start to 2015!

-Budd
