Hey Ryan - I may be interested depending on what kind of discount there is. I've been in talks with Night Sky Murals off and on for the past year and haven't pulled the trigger yet. When are you looking at getting it done?

Well happy New Year to you, Scott. You haven't had that projector that long. What are you trading it in on?

Ah, that's right. I knew you got the 8000. I guess I just read right past the 4000 thinking you were getting rid of your newest PJ.

I picked up one of the "vintage" candy dispensers at Sam's Club today, all to make Desertdome happy, yeah that's it.

Talking about doing a HT Crawl in the Des Moines area soon. Drop by the IA Meet thread if you're interested.

Still planning stages but seeing how much interest there is.

Does anyone have a UMIK-1 calibrated mic they'd consider loaning me for a weekend? I recently purchased an Emotiva XMC-1 and would prefer using a better mic to run Dirac with. I live 8mi north of Omaha.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

So my theater's been done for some time now, and the wife is out of town for a while. Sounds like a perfect time for a movie night! I figure next Friday or Saturday, whatever works best for the most people to make it. Anyone interested?

I really couldn't even say what we'd be watching yet since there's so many new movies out I haven't seen yet. I just picked up Jupiter Ascending. The reviews didn't seem too great, but it did look like pretty good eye candy. Any suggestions?

I'm in. I can talk to Woolly and bring him with me. PM us the details.

Jupiter Ascending wasn't very good but it did have some good sounding scenes. Do you have an HTPC?

nebrunner,

PM sent, though I forgot to add W00lly. I do use a HTPC. It's a pretty simple setup using Emby MediaBrowser with TMT for the Blu-Ray rips. I've been using that combo for years and never really bothered looking into (possibly) better options.

Okay, I better clarify as I already see my error based on Scott's response. I meant to say this coming Friday (17) or Saturday (18).

Let's just go ahead and make it Friday the 17th. Show up around 7:00-7:30, and we'll start a movie a little bit later. I'll have pop and water, but we don't stock much else so feel free to bring whatever else you'd want to drink.

I started calling around to see about getting the PJ calibrated, but the one place that seemed like they could do it won't be able to until the end of the month. I suppose we'll just have to do another one later to see what the consensus is pre- and post-calibration.

Not a bad movie but nowhere near the visual and audio level of Jupiter Ascending. Probably about a 1000x difference in budget between the two movies though.

Okay, demo clips and a movie to be chosen Friday evening. I'm pretty sure YamahaSHO will come, too. I'll see him Thursday and mention it then.

I had a great time at Trancemitr's new theater on Friday night. Thanks for hosting, Kevin. Your theater is a great example of an open room theater. Next time I hope to listen to more music on your SEOS 12/DNA 360/TD12M speakers. I really liked what you did with the sonotube subs. Great implementation! Here are some pictures for those who haven't followed his thread:

Friday was a lot of fun. I have projector envy. You know it is a good night when we manage to trip the circuit breaker due to too much bass!!!

Desertdome and nebrunner, thanks for the kind words. I'm glad everyone had a fun time. DD, I definitely look forward to hearing your weekend project sometime.

The subs are a funny story because I just knew it was going to take a lot to get the kind of bass response I wanted in that big of a room. As they say in the car world, there's no replacement for displacement. You'd think a dedicated 20A circuit would be enough, but apparently not in every case. I swear, I've never had that problem before....

Shawn, just stay tuned to this thread. I'm sure we'll do it again sometime. I mentioned it Friday night, but I do think it's about time for another theater crawl. Maybe this Fall?
