We are going to have a Darbee Darblet at the Tour. A few or all of us will demo it with our projector. This should be a good way for those attending to see if they like it.

That'll be fun to see. I haven't read up on it much but I did read some of the info on the avsforum home page linked thread.

What I don't yet understand is how a scaler/enhancer can actually realistically help true 1080p content outputting to a 1080p device. Anything it does is artificial right? So if you like it or not --it'll always be that you aren't watching what is truly the source signal.

At any rate I'm excited to see what it does, and potentially A/B it on several setups.

Hey guys,

I go through gear fast, and am now the owner of an Epson HC3010 with zero hours on it. Yep, I bought it, opened the box, put it in the theater and then decided to go with a Sony 95ES. What can I say, I'm a gear geek. So I now have one for sale. zero hours. You can find the classified listing, or just PM me.

I also have a Panasonic AE900 with about 6 trillion hours on it if you want something really cheap. wink.gifsmile.gif

Sorry for the commercial interruption. Please resume your programming.

Chris from Seymour AV is attending the Tour. I just heard that he will be bringing a tensioned sample of Center Stage XD and Enlightor 4K material that are side by side. We will be providing a comparison of these fabrics at one of the theaters.

In other news, I procured a door prize today that will certainly be something to phone home about. cool.gif

Unfortunately, the gift was so small and insignificant that I might have misplaced it. I value my time and any more an .005 seconds looking for it would certainly end up costing me in the long run.

hhahahh...what'd you get at David's any way? I can't remember?

I know I went home with a secondary prize in a RF old school CRT plug for a nintendo or something that someone threw at me as they left. But I got a true ringer of a prize in a 3 foot monoprice subwoofer cable still new in the bag! Nobody would complain about that one! I guess you didn't fare so well eh? biggrin.gif

oh no matter. ;p

It was but ever since Gorat's closed down and is scheduled to be razed, he had to find another place to eat. We were at Piccolo's last week and there is a nice picture of Warren and Bill Gates posing with the owner's daughter.

For the guys attending the tour - I sampled my newest batch of homebrew over the weekend and it is carbed up and ready to go! I will have plenty of bottles available at my stop of the tour. Be aware that this is a high ABV beer, very dark and packs a wallop. If you try it please remember to enjoy responsibly, seriously though none of us want anybody hurt or any DUI's given out that night!

I will also have a few of my extra theater items that I didn't wind up using in the build available for viewing and sale if anybody attending is interested. There will probably be a new Buttkicker LFE, a pair of new Emotiva ERD-1 bipole/dipole surrounds, a used Lenovo 5901 wireless mouse/keyboard, and a used MFW-15 with a diamond moho rosa finish.

My perpetual home theater build - Omaha Theater #5

Warren has always been a fan of Piccolo's as well (as am I). He hosts meals there every now and again.

Desertdome - Next time you visit your brother, make him take you to Gurney's for some prime rib. Heck, call me, I'll join you. I don't need much of an excuse. wink.gif I've done Farmer Brown's several times over the years as I grew up just west of there. It's good but it's not Gurney's.

I'll hope nebrunner doesn't mind me answering. It is the V2 with capacitor upgrade. Beautiful subwoofer!

For those that were here in October of last year as well...I'm going to *try* and get a few things done prior to the GTG:

Paint the ceiling black in the theater area of basement along with all of the can lights--
See if I can't kill some of the resonance in the can lights (IDEAS?)--
Get some kind of door on the rack --
Contemplating some kind of shades/curtains for side walls --
Maybe purchase a ~40" TV to replace the 19" on the side wall (sports considerations)--
Get subs EQd/L/Td with Desertdome and post measurements prior to GTG --
See if Luke Kamp can come up and calibrate my projector --

Not sure I'll get it all done, but will try.

Today is 9/27 so we only have 1 month left! Like HuskerOmaha, I have a huge list of things to do. The main thing I've been working on is getting my LS-6 speakers built. I'm trying to refinish the speaker cabinets first. They are rosewood and it is consuming all my time trying to strip them down to the bare wood. So far I only have 2 sides of 1 speaker almost stripped. The last part just doesn't seem to want to come off. I also need to be careful not to let the stripper stay on the veneer too long or I get bubbling in the veneer. If I put mineral spirits on the bubbles to neutralize the stripper it will then dry and the bubble will disappear after a day. I have two more pairs of cabinets so I may just quit and load the drivers into another pair of cabinets.

If my family leaves for the weekend for an out of town wedding, I will have accommodations for someone to stay Saturday night and maybe Friday night.

(I can't promise an early bedtime with the CFB going on, though!)

Wow, you get the award in this thread for longest time since last post - 4 years 9 months. smile.gif I've added both of you to the list. I assume you guys are from Omaha.

I'm not sure how many more people we can accommodate. My main seating area is a love seat for two. tongue.gif
