For those that are interested in hearing JTR's in a treated theater I will be having a GTG either Saturday November 2nd or Saturday November 9th. Once I get feedback on atendance I will post the date. The GTG will be listening to the system set up as it is now which will allow maximum time for listening. The plan is to have this from noon to about 6pm. 4hrs of demo for movies and music then for the last two hours watch a full feature film (TBD on title, but something with a lot of action). I welcome any demo material any one wants to hear. Since we are not messing around with equipment changes this should be a lot of listening time. Jeff Permanian will be in attendance so if you have specific questions we will have the expert in the room!

I will also have beer, soda and pizza for the day.

Let me know if you are interested and if so which date(s) work for you.

Here is a list of the euiqpment in the theater and a few photos.

sounds like a fun g2g!

You might also create a thread at audioholics and hometheatershack to try to raise some interest. You might also ping some of the other guys up that way who have tried to host meets lately and see if they can gif you some guys to directly PM to ensure there is attendance.

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1475190/upper-midwest-gtg-summer-2013-mn-ia-ne-nd-sd-wi-il-mo

Here is another couple lists of guys to reach out to in nearby states.

I've found that unless you reach out to people - they often don't know about your meet, and attendance will be lower than you might hope - even though many people might like to come if they know about it.

It probably won't be your last! smile.gif

It seems for those of us who host these things - they are a lot of fun and as soon as one's done --- you are nearly ready to plot the next.

We are going to have a great time. I wouldn't be surpised to see the 2nd be the preffered date as it was pointed out hunting season starts on the 9th in some areas...but the vote will decide!

Nice. My vote of course is for the 2nd but I'll try to make the 9th if that wins out.

Guys the Nov 2nd date is shaping up nicely, well keep both dates open until Sunday but then we'll make the call. Right now I have about 8-10 people attending (can still take more). For those of you attending let me know if you have demo material you plan on bringing and what from it is in (blu ray disc, usb chip ect). The PS3 does blu rays DVD's and CD's but not SACD. I also have my lap top, for USB connections, wired in too. (ps3 does too).

Thanks for the contact Lance and glad that you are sticking with November 2nd as the date for the GTG. Let me know if you wish for me to provide material for the GTG. There have been some new movies that have come out since I was last at your place that exhibit some tremendous bass output.

Alex, glad you are coming over for the GTG. New front stage LCR and another OS since you were hear last so it should be fun. it would be great if you can bring your updated demo material. The last one you brought over was phenomenal so it will be appreciated.

Frolich, It would be fun to have you and some of the other regular posters I see on the JTR thread at a big JTR GTG. The thread is quite interesting right now with a lot of new voices and even talking about acoustics..

You have Oblivion on BD? That's a good movie for sound and video, but 2.35:1. Not sure if you prefer 1.85:1

You have any full spectrum pink noise test tones? I would love to see the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) graph. I have some pro software and a pro mic, for my Iphone. smile.gif

I would attend on the 9th but can't the 2nd. To bad too cause I really want to hear the OS cuz I've contemplated getting one. For a movie, I would do either Star Trek Into Darkness (awesome audio) or Pacific Rim (bad ass movie and video)

I'm really curious to see / hear a top notch system as I would like to make some upgrades to mine . (maybe JTR sub)

Since I'm more into music (concerts) than movies , I would like to hear a few songs off a few concert DVDs .

Steely Dan , Two against nature dvd

David Gilmour , Live in Gdansk dvd

I have other concerts if anyone is interested . (Megadeth etc..smile.gif )

What can I bring ? beverages , food or just contribute $ ?

J, no need to worry about bringing food or drink unless you have something specific you want. If people bring beer it is never frowned upon but I should have pleny too. As far as the music goes please bring any discs you want to hear. I really listen to a lot of music too but most of it is Itunes videos and the quality is not as good as BD. I do have NIN and ACDC blu rays which are pretty good. Looking forward to the GTG!
