I'm probably missing people - for that I apologize, but otherwise these are guys I've at least interacted with through PM on several occasions and I know they live locally - many I've been to their house and they to mine.

We have a google groups membership that we use to communicate with as well:
Kansas City Home Theater Enthusiasts

Feel free to request access to this google group:

Luke Kamp, carp, stitch1, and I are the managers of the google group - so you'll want to request access through one of us.

What I suggest is that those interested can consider hosting an evening for a rotating movie night. The interval can be fleshed out - - -Perhaps monthly, perhaps quarterly. You may only wish to host once, you may wish to host more often. If you would like to host a movie night at your home to show of your equipment, meet other enthusiasts in the hobby, or learn more about the hobby please provide the date you are willing to host. The details of the g2g can be hashed out through PM to keep address and contact information private if preferred.

If you'd like to be added to the list, or would consider hosting an event - please sound off in the thread, or shoot me a PM.

I just put up both pairs of my GR Research LS-6 speakers for sale. I can deliver these to anyone in the Kansas City area. These are truly a fullrange speaker. Several in the KC area have heard them in my house including @Archaea and @jedimastergrant .

FS: Two pairs of GR Research LS-6 Line Source Speakers
Below are compression sweeps at about 1M with my 400 watt/8 ohm Cherry amplifier. These have more bass capability than most subs! Since the speakers are rear ported, the measurements are too close to the speaker to capture the port contribution. Peaks can get to 130 dB+. The woofers have XBL2 motors which were designed by Dan Wiggins. Last week at the LA Audio Show I met Dan Wiggins and heard his new speaker line.

We had awesome seats at the Muse show this week at Starlight. I have always liked them, but my wife is bonkers about their music. They rocked! The bass player was belting out solos that I thought was guitar on the recorded albums, and the lead singer/guitarist jams just as hard. They have a great dynamic playing together - just so clean and tight, while looking like they were having a good time while entertaining. Speaking of entertaining: 30 Seconds to Mars opened for them and they work the crowd like no other band I have seen. I'm not a huge fan of their music, but I had a lot of fun watching Ledo - freaking hilarious, and wearing a Nascar shirt and camo hat.

I would have loved to been there. I think Brad went as well. I have used Muse: Live at Rome Olympic Stadium as demo material. Some of you may have even seen/heard it at my place. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Muse-Live-at-Rome-Olympic-Stadium-Blu-ray/88995/

Highly recommended. It will get your entire place moving. The dynamics and sheer presence of the music is up there with the best. It looks like they put on an incredible show.

That is awesome.... I'd love to see Muse live someday. You bust some of that out before-hand on your system? I got goosebumps at the end of World War Z when "Follow Me" cranks up when the credits roll. I got so frikkin amped that I cranked it to +5 and scared everyone out of the room.

Blu-ray.com says it is the first concert to be filmed in 4K. I wonder if they will release a UHD Blu-ray of it? Several people asked for a Muse demo at AXPONA, but I didn't have anything. I'll have to pick it up.
The visuals on the disc are already spectacular! UHD would take it over the top for sure and will be a hands-down purchase for me. There are several tracks that are demo GOLD for concert stuff on there so I say you definitely amazon prime that sucker :)

I was indeed also at that concert! I didn't have as nice of tickets as yours though! Those kick ass.

This was my second time seeing Muse. The first time was at Kanrocksas back in the day when they headlined saturday night. They kicked ass back then too, and did an awesome laser show with some of their songs. So yeah, they put on great shows.

Jared Leto just makes me laugh.

Not my video from kanrocksas:

Was pretty awesome being in the middle of ks speedway for that.

Edit: I'm also a little upset they didn't play that song. It was one of my favorites from that album. I think it would make an awesome Bond song.

I guess I have been living under a rock, I had never heard of Muse or any of their songs. From listening to them they are good, but just not what I would pay to see. Glad you guys had a good time.

I have a soft spot for Muse because of a story from 10 years ago. Here’s the internet forum post from my brother that explains it better than I ever could.

------

START OF STORY:

I have a shot-in-the-dark-I-know-its-impossible-thing I'm trying to figure out.

My cousin Chad and his wife Joy lost their baby girl after a courageous fight on Thursday Sept. 30th. (Yesterday.) She fought an inspiring and difficult battle for two months through multiple surgeries that ultimately took her little life.

Her name was Bellamy or “Bell.”
Her namesake is Matt Bellamy.

It goes without saying that they love Muse and their music. I’m attending the Denver concert with their tickets, as they obviously cannot now make the trip from Kansas.

It doesn’t do much to ease the pain of a parent losing a child, especially so young a child, but it would mean more to them (they don’t know I’m asking this / trying to figure it out) than anyone could ever know to have a dedication to Bell.

Even a short mention for Bell would help so much.

Thing is, Muse is huge. Massive huge. Even getting a message to management past all the information that is thrown at them everyday is a huge task. I get that they probably get this kind of (if not as heart wrenching) request constantly.

It's been suggested I maybe contact the pepsi center, and to try posting in this forum too for suggestions, but I'm up for any ideas. I know Tom kirk is their manager, but he is too senior for this kind of request to easily reach him. I think I need someone who can get it to him, from below him, and probably below them...

Thanks.

EDIT: TO INCLUDE THE REST OF THE STORY IN ONE PLACE: This was the next night:

Sorry about the delay, had to grab a bite to eat and then plug in my computer when I got back to the Hotel.

WE DID IT!!!!!!! SEE THE VIDEO BELOW ON YOUTUBE:

I am still stunned that Matt dedicated Starlight to Bell. (Bellamy) I'm was reading back through the pages in the Denver thread, sorry the story confused everyone.

As for the story as to how it got to the band...

I'm not sure to this moment. I contacted management via email. I contacted the pepsi center. My wife grabbed two roadies outside the pepsi center and handed them the story in print. I got ahold of a roadie on the floor, etc. and on and on. Someone got them the story. We worked on it for the last 36 hours or so, but I don't think it was our effort as much as it was the story. A dedication to a friend or a happy birthday is, while special, not that unique. This story, if you knew the sad details, was heart wrenching. It's bad enough to lose a child, but this was more awful than most situations. This is going to mean so much to the family Bell left behind. I think that spoke to the person or persons who got this to Muse.

Here is the note I sent off to her mother less than an hour ago: (I'm going to call her tomorrow, because it's almost 2 am in Kansas.)

"Chad and joy, thank you so much for the tickets to Muse tonight. The show was incredible, one of the best I've seen.

I (we) wanted to honor the memory of your daughter in some way on this trip. A very long story made short, we were able to get a note to Matthew Bellamy. (yes, THAT Bellamy.)

He dedicated starlight to Bell, in front of 15,000 fans. It was beautiful, uplifting, and perfect. I was fortunate to catch video of the whole thing, and will share it with you all when we get to marysville.

It's a small thing compared to your loss, but know that tonight the crowd, the band, and thousands following the band online know your baby's story and strength."

Thanks everyone for your support. While this was a bittersweet concert for me, it was still so inspiring. A great night to be remembered.

END OF STORY

-------------

So yeah, I always tip my hat to Muse for the very meaningful little deed they did for an extended part of my family. My brother and my cousin were both of course at the show on Monday. :)

Started a build thread finally in case anyone is curious to see a new space. It is pretty modest compared to what I have seen from all of you. Hope to be able to host some of you in the future.

It's in my signature.
I just subscribed to your build thread, but I don't see that you have a signature. I found it check on you post. Nice room and you are ahead of me. That is going to be some base in that room. I look forward to checking in on the thread.

Those interested in attending movie night at my house, please chime in on availability next weekend Friday-Sunday. Movie to be determined but I will demo Dayton Audio/Parts Express CBT line array Archaea and I bought after visiting Axpona. I will demo with a HSU sub and minidsp plugin I got from Parts Express and alternatively using an Paradigm miniamp with their Auto eq applied. Beer, soda, and snacks provided.

Friday and Saturday assre out for me, but I could probably make Sunday next weekend. If in the afternoon.

Had a friend over and we watched Logan and Get Out. I liked Logan a lot, but what the hell... Get Out is terrible.

99 percent on Rotten Tomatoes? That makes no sense. I never felt suspense... nothing... just annoyance. The only parts I liked were the scenes with his friend, I found him funny. Other than that I must have rolled my eyes 20 times.

"Fiercely entertaining thriller"?!?! That would have been nice, but that's not what I just watched.

The audience score is 88%, so I guess maybe I'm not smart enough to get this movie. My buddy hated it too, so at least one other person had the same impression that I did...

#5,803 ·
I thought Get Out was overrated. If everyone wasn't pumping the movie saying how good the movie is, I think i would had like it more. But since everyone likes the movie, I had high expectations for the movie.
After watching the movie, i thought it was just okay imho.
