I think we decided to have just one if any at all and it would be best at Archaea's. JTR is more likely but I am leaving that all up to him since it is more work for and we already have a busy day.

EVERYONE CONFRIM ATTENDANCE!

Ok its time to finalize the attendance. I want to make sure I know who is really coming. Seats are over capacity (yes there is likely to be a "floor" seat at my place). Since we are splitting up into 2 groups I want to make sure that they are equal.

So EVERYONE please sign off! It is just easier if everyone does it so I don't make false assumptions. Just reply in the thread to confirm your attendance and I will then PM you addresses to the hosts.

I also tweaked the schedule on the first post just a bit to get more time in Randy's room. The total time in other rooms remains unchanged. The drive times are pretty close but not perfect. A few minutes here and there but I think we will be fine.

Confirmed Grant, if you can put me in group B given I'm right by carp that'd be cool.

Nebrunner, did you figure out transportation? If not I can come get you if Grant will put you in group B too.

Sound like a fun and interesting couple of days. Anyone have an Atmos setup?

RMK!

Fly in and join us. You can stay at my place if you needed a place.

None of us have ATMOS yet, but a few of us have heard it, at the KC AVR autoroom correction meet we held last Nov. We had an Onkyo unit with ATMOS. It was impressive!

Personally I was going to wait till the dust settled around DTS-X and consider something at that time --- (and then maybe wait for the first price drop on the new release stuff).

Scott doesn't get in till 8:40PM on Friday night IIRC. So we might hit up cvinfig's house (Real name = Chuck), if he's still offering on Friday night since it's close to the airport. @Reefdvr27 and @dlbeck and @desertdome might also want to join us on Friday night at Chucks? If Chuck isn't able to host a quick session on friday night - perhaps we could plan on meeting at AMC PRIME for a show?

I think Reefdvr27 (Dave) and Scott were both interested in hitting the AMC PRIME (though the movie wasn't optimal) --- so we could either do that Friday night or Sunday. I don't know their interest level though - given the movie ---- so they might prefer to see more local theaters if we have more alternate interested KC hosts?!?!?!?!

And yet another out of towner, I believe @W00lly is going to try to join the KC crawl as well, and may join forces with Scott and I. He is finalizing plans right now. He is a former g2g/crawl host from the Omaha area, and a g2g attendee as well. He might be surfing through the hosts with Scott and I.

So I say all that to say Saturday or Sunday might be best for the out of towners I know of - since some are flying or driving in. I'm not sure what time Reefdvr27 arrives into town? @desertdome, and @dlbeck - is 8:30AM on Sat or 11AM on Sunday, either one a better possibility for you?
@Rod2486 - what timeframe are you getting into town? Do you have any preferences on schedule? - Intent to meet up outside of the official crawl? Am I missing any of the out of towners here? @HuskerOmaha -- what is your schedule? Same question - are you interested in seeing any other places than what's on the official crawl?

------
@chirpie -- are you interested in opening up your theater on Sunday for out of town visitors?
I am down for the AMC Friday night, Chucks sound great to. I believe my flight will be scheduled to land around 3:30pm (-1 hour 2:30pm) by the time I get settled and cleaned up and will be ready around dinner time. Me and Dave Beck are staying at the same hotel in KC so I am down for what ever he is doing!

Your in. Hope you don't mind taking a turn on the floor at my joint. The carpet is surprisingly soft!

Are any of you guys carpooling? I am dividing the groups up today.

I'm half kidding about the floor. I wouldn't make you sit there the whole time. Everyone will be taking a turn as we switch seats out every few minutes.

@carp @jedimastergrant @Archaea

OK, sorry that took me a while to get a hold of my bro in law. Him and his wife are nerding it out all week at the Star Wars convention in Anaheim or whatever. His wife is a Star Wars turbo - all the books (ALL the books, not the 9) etc. Her secretary is Hamill's cousin or something somehow.

Anyways, I have my own logistical issues of getting the wife to Ikea at some point Saturday and taking the kids canoeing, and the weather as of now says AM rain..

I'm thinking I can commit to and make 930-130p (carp and jedimastergrants) rooms. My bro in law will come if he is able. I can sit wherever!

Confirm me for sure (just that time frame) and likely bro-in-law. Does that make it too messy?

My Denon 4520CI finally came back from the shop this week (again) after two months in the shop.

I'm debating whether I should use my Onkyo PR-SC5508 pre/amp with the external Crown amps, or switch to the Denon 4520CI with internal amps.

I never had the Denon 4520CI long enough to even determine if I liked it better than the Onkyo --- since it kept breaking down. I've literally had it about 3 weeks of 7 months -- the other 6 months and 1 week it's been in the shop with issue after issue. I think six times now IIRC. I bought it new, back Sept 3, 2014, and it's all been warranty work --- at one point they completely replaced the unit with a refurb, and the refurb had a broken subwoofer 1 out - which was why it was in the shop the last couple months.

I'm afraid if I hook it up, it'll bug out again. There were aspects I liked better about both units. The interface is faster, more modern on the Denon, the internal amps meet my SPL needs on the Denon, however, the XLR connections on the Onkyo are better suited for my litany of subwoofer amps, and I like all channel stereo better on the Onkyo since it automatically raises the Left and Right front speaker by 3dB in all channel stereo mode (which is a pretty key factor). The Onkyo Remote is also better with full backlighting at button press instead of vibration. The darn Denon remote is on non stop because of my eight subs with it's vibration caused backlighting. Both have pretty equivalent android app control. Sound quality is similar enough between the two I can't really tell the difference. The advantage to the Denon would be shedding 5 external Crown amps I don't need with my sensitive speakers (~putting $500 back in my pocket from selling the amps), getting back HD Radio, and the faster interface/audyssey calibration on the Denon. Both the Onkyo prepro and the Denon would fetch about the same sale value in the classified.... What to do......................

Sell them both and buying something DTS-X enabled......

Which one I sell probably depends on whether my next DTS-X enabled unit is a prepro or an AVR. If a prepro I don't want to sell all the crown amps. Sad part is pre/pros cost top dollar for some reason -- though the reality is they SHOULD be cheaper than the flagship AVR because that's what they are --- sans the internal amp section - meaning they are much cheaper to make. But the vendors can charge an uptick because they are a specialty product marketed to the top segment of their customer base.

I love my 4520 but I would be reluctant to make one that had been refurbished twice the centerpiece of my system.

Since you listen to music in 8 channel stereo that would be the deciding factor for me, and I'd keep the Onkyo.
