Oh, change your first post, my screen is a wimpy 158", not 176".
I am glad Archaea has already addressed this, and John Wick and Metal sounds like when everyone else leaves I may still be sitting there in complete heaven.

On another note, I really enjoy your photobucket user name that I just saw in the URL's for the pics. That is great.

Thanks Brandon, pictures can be deceiving though. My screen is currently sitting on top of two of these:

Which are sitting on these

Which makes the screen just the right height to wedge it under the beam. Temporary setup.. I think. Surprisingly the screen is straight up and down on both sides, no leaning back at all and equally surprising is it hasn't fallen on top of me yet.

Ah yes, but it can very easily become a permanent setup.....

I am also only buying a one-way ticket so I can rent a uhaul to bring your speakers back with me in Feb.

Jonathan, more people to invite:

@raynist
@rcohen
@dgage
@molonlabe
@Chriscorv58
@Pain Infliction
@frolich

These are all guys I haven't met in person that I have either PM'd a bunch, posted back and forth a lot on the forum, or talked to on the phone and just seem like real good guys.

I know I'm missing some, can't think of Coach's full handle.

Others I thought of you told me you already invited (LTD John, Tux, RMK, etc.)

Not sure what are max is on people or if it's uncool to put out invites without talking to you first so preemptive apology.

@Archaea

Totally cool. It's open invite.

More people just means the hosts will demo more sessions.

Thanks for the invite and putting this together!
I'd love to come!

Would it be okay to bring my wife, too?
We are planning our theater, and this would be such a great opportunity to get some direction on that.

Your wife is welcome to attend!!! You are absolutely right - this is a great match for someone in the early stages of plotting out their theater. You get to audition various room designs, and hear many different systems!

BTW --- To those of you who responded back to PMs with I'd love to come, but I'll have to check my schedule. Pshhhh. We are on to you.
No WAY you have something scheduled four months out, over Presidents day weekend, next year. That's why we put it four months out, over Presidents day weekend, next year.

You can decide with no standing conflict that THIS is what you are doing.

Oh you are going to be "That guy" eh? Haha. Subjecting your wife to a phalanx of AV dorks filing in and out of theaters all day, watching a bunch of action movie clips, swilling beers and such. I usually just send my wife to the spa man....It pays off I promise.

Uh oh, I might have accidentally forced the idea on her.

For the John Wick thing, are we looking at having everyone go as a big group to one theater, or splitting up to use both of the AMC Prime's in the area (Assuming Town Center gets the movie and it's not limited to Cinetopia)?

The Hodor Theater - Now with Atmos
Projector - Panasonic PT-AE8000U
LCR speakers - JTR Noesis 228 HT (3)
Surr./Back - Klipsch Pro Cinema KPT-8000M (4); Atmos In-ceiling - Niles DS8HD (4)
Subwoofers - Passive JTR Captivator Pro (2) - Powered by Crown XLS 5000.
Receiver - Yamaha Adventage A3050

In the 2015 Crawl we all went to one theater and it was fun - we went to the AMC Prime in Leawood. So I definitely suggest a big group meet up again.

Last crawl we watched Fast and the Furious 7 -- IIRC. There were not many people in the audience besides the crawl folk and we managed to all fit in one row. That will be the second weekend John Wick 2 plays so perhaps it too will not be heavily attended, but either way - since AMC Dolby Prime has reserved seating we can all buy our preferred seats in well in advance!

I suggest we meet at the AMC BarryWoods 24 theater this time - so those that fly in (already quite a few), and the multiple confirmed driving in from the north (Omaha and Des Moines) will be closer to that theater (only 11 minutes from the airport vs. 40 for Leawood's AMC Town 20). Also the Dolby Cinema room at BarryWoods is a bigger (nicer too, in my opinion) theater space.

I know it sucks to drive extra for most of us KC locals, including myself, but it is for the convienience of those who have traveled much further that I suggest the northern site. I don't know of any out of KC metro area attendee driving in from the south.

J - Any interest in doing some blind testing - preferably speaker comparisons? I'd be happy to help with logistics and/or setup.

Edit - I've got some ideas - will call you tonight or this weekend to kick them around.

You know I love that.

Friday night through Sunday afternoon are booked solid. You'll watch a movie at probably the best commercial cinema you've been to, and visit 10 or 12 enthusiast rooms at a bit over 1 hour each, you'll be doing like 15-20 + minutes of driving between each host. The most avid enthusiasts will probably stay up late each night talking as well. I'd assume there will be a drink or two shared at some point or another.

IF you are still hungry for more audio ventures after that - Sunday evening and Monday are currently unscheduled for bonus events. What's spinning around inside your head?

For what it's worth - I considered dragging a few of you here if the timing works out (perhaps Sunday night for those that stay?) It's a underground (multiple underground levels) Irish pub built in 1842. It's really a lot of fun.

That Irish pubs pretty good. Haven't been in years.

Also, the AMC on Barry Rd works well for me. Luke and I will be coming from Lansing, so about 25 min. Use to go here all the time.

I wish I had known about that Irish pub when I lived in Olathe. I love Irish pubs. I have it on my agenda next time I am in KC.

O'Malley is the coolest pub I have been in. We went a couple of weeks ago for Irish Fest. We had kids with us so it was only a recon event there, but I'm ready to get back and get to work.

I'm off all day that Friday too so I'm game to do anything awesome before the scheduled events.
