Excellent. Ray's theater is a great full-on 7.1 setup.

What do people think of the Saturday, October 7th? Next weekend I'm busy on the 30th, but I'm free for that Sunday, October 1st.

What sort of movies are people most interested in seeing? I'm kinda jazzed to see the speeder chase from Return of the Jedi on Ray's 7.1 system, but I know that movie is old school and also a huge source of heretical inquires (molested jedi or unmolested jedi... it's a very sensitive topic!). I have a few truly-awful-chessy movies like Shaolin Soccer that have great bass that I could bring.

Perhaps an even more important question is what types of drinks do you all want brought to this gathering? Would you like people to bring something along the lines of a nice microbrew like FatTire ale.

Thanks for offering up your place Ray.

Ray,

Thanx for hosting again. Norman and Brian will be hitching a ride with me.

If any of the attendees are clustered around the same location (e.g., South Bay or S.F.Valley), you really ought to consider car-pooling. Don't be shy.

Hey Ray,

Thanks for hosting the event. You have a theater that rivals most home theater demo rooms. Great design. And thanks for all the food. Now enjoy the full potential of your theater with HD DVD. Thanks.

Wanted to pass along something I am looking forward to...

I have just been invited to be on a panel after a screening of "We Were Soldiers" at the Directors Guild of America during the City of Angels Film Festival.... also on the panel will be director Randall Wallace and others.. The screening will be on Saturday Oct 21 at 9:15pm...

I hope they are able to get a good print together, and the DGA is usually a great place to see a film...

Hey Guys,

That was a fun way to find out just how much a house could shake. "was that lightning and thunder or Ray's theater?"
Ray, you've really nicely dialed in your movie theater. The three subs for movies really worked well.

Thanks for putting on such a spread and feeding us and laying out drinks and for DSOTM. I hadn't realized just how spectacular "us" was mixed on that dvd. Wow.
Also, thank you Erick for tearing your hd-dvd player out your setup to bring along. That was such a cool way to see what hd-dvd can do.

After seeing some of those demo clips presented so impressively I came home and had to amazon a few movies. Blade 2, Chronicles of Riddick. Such cheesy movies, but after being teased by such killer demo clips on your system Ray, I realized I had to get them now.

A few people were interested in the xbox media center. I'm happy to help out people if they want to tackle performing the softmod approach to setting up the xbox to run xbmc.

Thanks again Ray for hsoting and for putting the whole event together!

Noob to AVS. Just discovered this thread. Great to hear there are some that get together to enjoy their hobby.

Building a new house in Moorpark and doing research on family room HT.

I'll keep this page in mind and see when the next meet is. Maybe I can make it. Love to learn from all you "pros".

hdtvpros 10-10-2006 08:26 PM

What's up guys I have a place in the San Gabriel Valley with a HT (small 92" screen with 5.1, 2 or 3) Seven leather seats available only and the floor. Also have the new Mode keypads from SpeakerCraft for iPods.

reneauds 10-20-2006 12:06 AM

i'm in the process of trying to decide what equipment to use. my house is in framing all walls exposed. i'm thinking speakercraft mode. how do you like the ipod controls?

It's great since you do not have to learn new menu/controls. The Mode KP mirrors your iPod. Also depending on the MZC multi-room amp you get you can put multiple iPod and your able to access each one from any location if you want.

Also on the iPod base has an additional aux input to add an Xbox or computer to access other audio sources.

Depending on your new house set-up the new TIME speakers from SpeakerCraft just got released. These speakers drop out of the ceilings.

Good luck with your new house/remodel.
