Right now I am using freestanding speakers, but I am going to build a front stage and switch over to "hidden" speakers. I use this term because I don't necessarily have to use "in-walls' design - I can build cabinets/enclosures that are simply hidden behind fabric. I was wondering if anyone locally has "in-walls" of any description i could hear? I have looked/considered everything from some used Triads, to Monoprice in-walls to building from parts from Madisound or Parts Express. On the one hand, i am not overly concerned about super high quality, as i will still have a more dedicated 2-channel setup for music, and I usually say that if i am paying too much attention to sound details in a movie, i need to get up and put in a better movie. OTOH, I don't want to be DISTRACTED by bad sound, and I am coming from a more picky audiofool background, so my definition of good and bad may be a bit skewed.

I can say right now, I am leaning toward switching to an AT screen (Seymour), and going with Zaph 5.3 and 5.2 kits all around (5.3 for LCR, 5.2 for side and rear surrounds, and maybe height/width up front also).

Anyone here build in their own, or using manufactured in-walls?

The eating and drinking more always sounds good!

Good point on the contrast with audio meeting vs the video meetups. I do agree that watching a full-length movie probably wouldn't work.

One thing we didn't spend a lot of time on in our meetup was audio tuning. We did a lot of video work, which was excellent (thanks to Vigga).

I'm still interested in this. I haven't been as actively involved in gear upgrades as I was in the past and I got busy with a lot of other things over the last year so it was hard to sustain more regular meets.

But it would be great to see everyone again and get back into this. I've got a new screen that's been sitting, waiting for me to install it.

I can help with maintaining contact info and sending out invites. I still have the full list of everyone who participated in 2010.

Very interested in the audio measurement and tuning area as well. Still something I need to address more fully in my room.

What's the Doodle Poll?

Wonder what the chance would be of having a meeting in the latter half of March?

I can't do Saturdays during the day at all. In the past we did several of these and they were all in the evening from around 7pm to 11-12.

Sunday afternoon might work OK too. But i'm just one person and fine with everyone going with the majority.

Saturday evening is pretty much the best time for me.

The wife works on Saturday so I have kid-care during the day.

Sunday afternoon could work, but not preferred.

As Josh said...I'm one opinion as well.

This is why i don't organize softball teams anymore

W, the Doodle poll is at the link I embedded in one of my first posts. It lets us record and track votes, opreferences, etc. Whatever 'poll' you wnat to put up. In this case, preference for days/times. I'll follow it with actual dates/times under consideration based on initial feedback.

Thanks...Got it. Totally get the point on the softball teams. I've taken the responsibility of organizing anything from basketball teams to game nights and it's certainly a task. There is the eternal optimist in me that keeps drawing me to want to organize things despite the reality of it being like herding squirrels.

Josh - maybe we should send out a link to the doodle poll to the e-mail list we have?

Based on the replies so far, and some from other friends not on this board, I am thinking a Saturday. Also, I likely will run an extended version that starts in the afternoon and extends into the evening so we may have folks that catch all or early or late portions.

OK, from the Doodle replies and other discussion, it looks like an extended meet on Saturday catches the most people. Will start early to mid-afternoon, say 2-ish, and extend into the early evening, say 8:30-ish.

Needing to look out a bit, so proposing either April 7th or April 14th. I closed the Doodle poll, just LMK by post or PM what works best for the most.

I won't be able to make it on a Saturday afternoon myself because my wife works until 6:30-7pm and I have my kids. I believe Warren was in the same boat.

However, I can provide you with a list of contacts in the area that I used for previous evites if you like. PM me if you want this.

Either April 7 or 14 works for me. I'm traveling three weeks out of four in March. :-p

Hey everyone! I am new to the community here. I am from Cary, and am setting up a new home theater system.
Is there anyone here, who have RBH R5Bis, or Elac Debut B6 that I may demo. RBH is no longer making R5Bis, and it is no longer feasible to order them, and try them at my place. It would be great if anyone could let me demo them at their place.
