1) Have you attempted to swap speakers to see if the issue follows the speaker or stays with the amp channel. Perhaps the ribbon was damaged during the move? Or maybe an amp channel is failing.

2) If it stays with the channel, swap the outputs from the Emotiva. If it moves then you know it's the Emotiva and not the amp channel.

3) If you do all of these and the sound remains at the same location, it could be the cable or the hookup of the cable.

In case you are not following the Central iowa Star Wars thread, we had one person drop out for the showing of Empire Strikes Back tomorrow night at the Savoy. So, one open seat available.

So disappointed you are hosting a moving night on UNI Home Coming. I figured you would be joining me on the Hill for a beverage or 5 after the game.

Hey whiskey,

Long time no post. You need to stop over sometime and check out my theater as it is 99% finished. Took forever, but I am happy with the results. I don't know of anybody else in Mason City other than you who has been sucked into this hobby.

You should do a "Wednesday Special Feature" show sometime.

About a month ago, my boss assigned me a 2nd contract to manage at work. It is in West Des Moines, so now I find myself traveling to WDM twice a month for an overnight to work onsite at the client. Since all of the HT movie events seem to happen in central Iowa.... Well, you see where I am going.

Ditto what Dave said. I'm sure about any of us would be up for a movie or just talking HT. Although after you check out Dave's place, the rest of us are going to be a bit anticlimactic

I've actually been to Dave's a few years ago. Definitely makes my theater feel like, well, just not good. LOL

Just wanted to give an update. Spent some time yesterday over @techtvman place to see his new Atmos setup. The Def Tech AW6500's he got from DesertDome do a very good job with Atmos. He has enough depth to do 4 speakers effectively and they sound very good. They reminded me of Archea's setup with the Mackie's. I can see a lot of rooms where you want to retrofit in Atmos using these as the cost/perf ratio is great and the brackets make them easy to mount and position.

His RS520 looked great too and very familiar

Ryan we'll have to figure out a time I can drop off that drive and check out your progress.

Thanks @jeahrens . It was good to have you over and demo some content! If anyone is looking for some more prominent atmos content check out Kong:Skull Island. Thanks to DesertDome for the speaker recommendations and projector calibration!

I've updated my thread with pictures if anyone is curious. I decided on the top middle and front height/top front configuration for atmos as it seemed to work the best in my room.

Emotiva now available

I wanted to post a quick note that the Hawkeye Audio Video store is open in Hiawatha (Cedar Rapids). They have some of the same brands as the Cedar Falls store (Marantz, Sony, JVC, Paradigm, Golden Ear, Screen Innovations) but they also have added a few brands like Anthem, SVS, Salamander furniture, and now Emotiva.

Hawkeye plans to have a 7.1 system featuring the Emotiva XMC-1, XPA Gen 3 amp powering all speakers, Oppo 203, Paradigm Prestige speakers and a SVS SB-16 subwoofer. He was hoping to have an Emotiva Atmos setup but the Atmos upgrade cards for the XMC-1 are not available yet. Until the card is available he will have the 7.1 setup, but then change over to a Atmos setup.

Hawkeye AV will also a higher end 2-channel rig consisting of the XSP-1 and a few Marantz pieces.

Kent asked if there would be any interest in having a AVS GTG at the store similar to what he did a few years ago at the CF store. If there is some interest let me know and I'd be happy to make the arrangements.

Can I invite a friend? :-) There is a guy at work that is building a new house near Hunter's Ridge and he is interested in using a local company for products (probably not install, but products anyway), and we were talking about Hawkeye just last week.

Because it's @nickbuol , I'll give you my permission (which is worth nothing) to visit the store BEFORE the GTG. Depending on what your friend wants to buy I would run over now. Kent has some demo stuff he is selling right now at crazy prices. A guy I'm helping build a room in Marion bought a bunch of Paradigm speakers and a Sony projector for insane low prices. I know Kent is selling the JVC 770 demo for essentially half price. A couple of the furniture pieces are really marked down. Long story short, if your friend has equipment needs go now. Don't wait in case items sell out.

Sounds like there would be enough interest for a GTG at the store. We could also discuss if we should have a meeting at only the store this year and hopefully a theater crawl next spring (assuming a few of us get our arse in gear and finish our rooms), or visit a few rooms and then end up at the store. Thoughts?

Well it's more the combination of a nice engine, a comfy ride and a driver that has not had their fire extinguished by the system.
