Just want to make sure that EVERYONE understands that YOU DO NOT have to finance the WDxx737/WDxx837 TV thru Mitsu financial to get the $100 gift card or golf club(s).
I posted the thread so ANYONE could click on it, print it out and mail it in.

**Just purchase the TV between May 29 - June 21 to qualify.......I believe it has to be thru a Mitsu AUTHORIZED retailer (No Ebay, etc).
**Download the form........mail it in with proof of purchase
**You can also fill out the form ONLINE to speed things up, but they still need the form & proof mailed to them.

I have BOTH the TechCraft HBL52 & HBL60 stands. These are GREAT stands for the price! BOTH can accomodate my A/V equipment.......& DOES fit my Yamaha NS444 center channel speaker (HBL52) and my Onkyo center channel (HBL60). The SHELVES are NOT adjustable......only downside.
For the price......these are 50-60% LESS than Ultimate Electronics sells them for!!

check them out:

For everyone that is reading the thread and maybe "on the fence" about possibly buying the Mitsu WDxx737 or WDxx837 series DLPs.......I am LOVING my WD60737! As I have said before in an earlier post........my next door neighbor has the Samsung 61" DLP with the LED. He & I BOTH agree that the Mitsu is a BETTER TV.
Now, that is TOUGH for him to admit......I am sure. In fact, HE is considering the Mitsu WD65737 or WD73737 as I am typing this!!!

We played Transformers on BLU-RAY last night on my TV.......he almost fell off the sectional in my living room! He kept saying, "unreal, unbelievable" during the movie.

I say get one. You will be happy. Just get it home, tune the picture to the specs/adjustments with the help of other owners who have taken the time to run various programs/calibrations.......hook it up via HDMI......get a BLU-RAY player......and ENJOY. (Plus......you can still get the REBATE)

Attached are photos of an identical split frame from tonight's Dodgers - A's game. In order they should be Natural, Bright, Brilliant.

Does anyone have the out of the box settings for each of the five options above for each preset? I'd like them again to play around with the settings again. For the life of me I can't remember what they were.

One thing I have noticed is that if you're flipping between presets the TV does NOT change all of the settings for you and it can lead to some tricks being played on you. If you flip between settings it changes the Contrast and Brightness, but it does NOT change the Colour or Tint. So, at least for my television, it's not keeping the settings when you switch between settings.

Has anyone else noticed this? It makes it a bit laborious to compare settings. Is there a way to force the TV to actually save the settings so you can freely flip back and forth between the settings? Or is this a flaw that's going to have to be taken care of in a software fix?

Mr. Spyder is a FRIEND indeed. NATURAL looks the BEST, IMO. I am going to try your above settings vs what I came up with (using DVE). THANKS for the post!!

I have the opportunity to buy a Mitsubishi WD73835 for $1600. It was purchased in March for my classrrom and now the school wants to sell. I'm also considering a LCD for around $2300. Any suggestions from those of you who have done the research?

I think most of us here are gonna steer you towards the Mitsu......even if it is yast year's model (WDxx835)......the "8" means DIAMOND SERIES, the "35" is just last year's model.....no biggie. That TV probably sold for $2,500 new I am going to guess........get it for $1600, OR try to catch a deal on a WD73737 (2009) model if you can.

what in the world does a best buy warranty cover for 399? better be worth it. doubt they can do repairs though without shipping the tv off out of state like my labtop last week.

Remember when the first Samsung 1080p DLP's came out?? I got one. The wife insisted I get the warranty. I think that was 2002. Because of that warranty I have replaced the 61" Samsung with a WD-65833, replaced that set with a WD-73835, and am about to replace that with a WD-73837 or a WD-82837. I might have to fork over a little bit of money to upgrade to the 82", but for the original $4,000 investment in 2002.... I have upgraded nicely with no money out of pocket.

Because when you get a good one, they are a great value inch-for-inch. Go price a 73" plasma for comparison.

yes i have read a great deal about the LED samsungs but they are not in production any longer thus all that i can find are last years 73 samsung what makes me a bit upset is that to get what the samsung offers you prteyy much are forced by mits to buy the darn 73835/or 73837 model the 73737 is just a base model no bells and whistles at all, no usb, etc, for instance net coomand bla bla bla, so why is it that the samsung costs almost 6-700 less is the mits simply a better picture or are you paying for the gift card and gold clubs? i dont golf, i think its a boring sport so the clubs would be useless to me...

im leaning towards the 73837 and i highly doubt many actuially have it, i have seen it side by side with the 737 and the 837 has more features as the 737 is simply the base model. The remote 4 both tv's sucks.. I have read here that some feel the mits remote lacks a lot, i have seen the samsung remote as well and it looks pretty stupid as well with the 4 color buttons that look pretty mickey mouse, thus im not buying either the samsung or the mitz for their remotes,

hands down which tv gives the better picture? i have read that while the older model samsung uses an led it doesnt use as good of a color system as the mits which also uses a texas dark chip 4? what ever the heck that means?

I agree about the value. The one in the store looked a lot darker than the LCD next to it.

Yep, but it's a bit sad you must get a "good one" . Based on my own experience, quality control is something Mitsubishi seems to lack . Unfortunately we don't have other choices if size is really important and our budget is not unlimited. The Panasonic 65V10 is in my shortlist and I'm sure PQ can't be matched by any DLP but the downsizing from 73 to 65 is a bummer. I think I will buy a couple of bulbs for my 73927 and keep it for another year , hoping we can see a 70" plasma below 7K .

I can't disagree with that. Tho I'd say there are a lot of similar situations in life when you're a value shopper. If anything, I'm more disappointed that so far the 837 seem to be significantly *worse* on this score than the 737 based on feedback on this thread to this point. If you pay more you have every reasonable expectation to receive a higher quality/more reliable product.

Prior xx725 managed to get about 5 HD's out of perhaps 15 digital on cable about 4 months ago. Today, taking the same cable from the wall, our Samsung 40A630, gets perhaps 14 HD's (mix including 720p and 1080i). Display as 5-1, 8-1, etc.

After scanning ant/cable, edit list does not check "live" to any of the HD channels. Have run scan 3 times now - still no HD's. manually flipping thru channels also does not get ANY HD's either. Scan options are really limited compared to xx725. Scan ANT/Air or scan ANT/Cable. Real simple. Too?

Is this big monster broken? Or, did Mitsu decide that having a tuner section as good as before, or as good as a $1200 Samsung wasn't important?

Any ideas would be helpful.

MikeK

OH! Cox Cable-Phoenix AZ. duh

Hello,
Mitsu site has zero (0) specs or support documents for the xx837 on the Mitsu web site.

Is there anyone out there with some ideas about Tuner performance relative to HD via cable on this TV?

The 65" and 73" 837's have had spec sheets and owners manuals on Mitsu's site for about a week. Hit specs, then "detailed specs" and there are 4 PDFs each.

I just switched from Comcast to DirecTV last night. I found the cable box was the determiner on tuner switching for those (Comcast was faster). On OTA, I have to say the HD channel switching is uninspired --about 3 seconds per channel.

I love my kds-r60xbr1. I think for its age it still produces one of the best pictures out there. however i would like to go bigger as long as i don't have to sacrifice picture quality.

assuming that tv came out 5 years ago, i am assuming these mitsus can perform at least as equal.

Haven't done much research on tv's lately (been content with my sony). are tweaked mitsu dlps comparable to tweaked plasmas or lcds.

I know I would take my sony picture over just about any plasma or lcd out there.

Also looking at the 65 inch panny plasmas, especially the new ones coming out later this year (of course the dlp would save me a few grand).

thanks for your thoughts.

If you have the jack to give serious consideration to a 65" quality plasma, then my congratulations and by all means go for it. Maybe --maybe-- the 82" Mits would be something to consider, depending on how far you are sitting from your TV and if you have the room for it.

If I try to switch from my cablebox on a component input to my PS3 on HDMI input while the Playstation is loading a disk, my 2009 65-737 locks up. It won't respond to the remote or the front panel switches and I must pull the plug on the TV to resolve the lockup.

This is irritating, and probably not good for the TV, but it's easy to avoid. I'm wondering whether anybody else has encountered this behavior.

i don't necessarily have the jack. I just like to buy good products. anything i get would be a 3 yr. no interest deal from BB.... that I can afford.

i have a good size living room (basically combined living and dining room)

forget about the panny,

can anyone compare the mitsu to the xbr's?

thanks again

Right you are. Spec declares combo tuner for "in the clear" and "un-scrambled" signals.

Does that mean that the older Mitsu had a tuner less susceptible to futzing by the cable company, or that Samsung puts a better tuner into their 2008 LCD's?

I checked www.mitsubishi-tv site last week. No info following the product tab of the HomeTheater part. Earlier today I checked again via the support tab, and followed to listing of owners guides in .pdf. Then, and still, there are no documents for xx837 when following that particular path. But, as you said there are now varied support documents for xx837 under products now.

Big fancy xx837's tuner can't match capability of 5 yr-old Mitsu unit. Nor, can it match the tuner on a Samsung that costs less than half what the xx837 does. phhitt!

I'm still looking forward to getting a non-faulty unit delivered tomorrow. Like to see how it does for PQ. Sure is big.

Imagine my surprise when I happen to notice that the left side of the mirror behind the screen was not properly attached to the chassis!! I removed enough of the screws holding the screen and gently snapped the mirror back into the groove. Wa-la!! Geometry issues fixed and no more dimming in the top left either.

Can you describe the screen/screw removal process, and what to look for inside?

Just in case I get brave this weekend.

They said that they couldn't get a 2 man team up to greensboro today but said if i was willing to help they could deliever today. I said "is that even a serious question? of course I'll help" Expected date was the 22nd, so I'm pretty happy right now Hopefully it arrives in good shape

I have a 60XBR2 and since manufacturers have dropped out on DLPs I to am interested in a larger, 120hz set (especially for 3D). I wanted to get a Samsung LED set but didn't realize that they were no longer being made until it was too late. I too droped out of these threads cause my Sony (calibrated by Jeff) is having no problems. I may be able to sell the Sony to a guy who lost his to thieves who broke into his home. I also like the BB 3 year no financing angle also. I'm just waiting to see if the 73837 sets are indeed better than the 73737 sets.

I am right there with you. "Happy Nightmares" has one of each in the 65" version and said he is taking some comparison photo's to post and hopefully show all of us the differences. I do say I am disturbed by the number of geometry issues that seem to be posted by the users in this forum. If I decide to purchase the Mitsubishi 73 series it will have to be an online purchase. There are no stores anywhere close locally that carry this brand. So the idea of trying to exchange with online retailers that would do it seems like a possible problem.

Be careful because although best buy lists it on their website

1) they don't carry these in store

2) I have tried to have it shipped but no delivery's could be made in my area.

I also tried about 20 other zip codes through out the country and I got the same message "unable to deliver it to the location". I dont think they acutally deliver it anywhere. Also they can't have it shipped to a store.
