This is not the first 82" Mitsubishi RPTV. They had one 9 years ago (I think they called it "Alpha") and initial list price was 20K. Picture was absolutely awful, though.

Amazingly, the Modia Theater Store Outlet here in Houston still advertises the 82" Mits LCoS set in their ad every Saturday. They must have one sitting in their warehouse. I saw the set in one of their stores last year -- 82" in a box the size of a CRT RP is a vast TV. I saw a number of apes dancing in front of it trying to make tools from a bone.

I really wish now I was able at the time to get the 73 inch, but the 65 is great. I did notice the screen is really thin and could easily be damaged, compared to say my last 65 inch jvc(but that was a monster in size). Would be a concern for me if I had young kids and they pushed on the screen ever. I ordered a harmony 890 over the weekend, so can finally have one remote. Blu ray looks so good on these tv's, I just wish tv shows would get their stuff together and have everything in a standard format. Really sucks watching a show with black bars on each side or when certain channels format has the black bars around the entire show, but is obvious they did it on purpose because the shows watermark is in the black area. There needs to be a standard now, esp since HDtv will be the norm next month.

Love my 731.

Will I see much difference in Color, Brightness, less noise from fan?

I have the glass stand with the 731 will the 737 fit?

If I go up to the 73" would it fit on my stand?

Is there a better choice in the Mits lineup?

Thanks

i agree with you rotwiler on the satellite pic thing. it is weird when all these shows have different formats, but when a hi def program comes on it's like a breathe of fresh air. when and if i sell my older dlp i'm sure i'll go with the 73. if i get the 65 i know i'll be wondering what the bigger one would be like in my room and kick myself. i know the 65 still looks nice though.

Hello everyone.

Is the 837 a replacement for the 835? Will it be the top-of-the-line model?

Do we know what extra features or performance advantage it might offer over the 737?

How long does a bulb last and does it just get dimmer or completely blow. I was planning on getting the 67 sammy after I remodel my living room but they are gone. I'm looking into the mits in 73 and 82. Questions are...

How long does a bulb usaully last? My tv is almost always on and if I fall asleep watching it, it can be on for close to 2 days.

I wanted the sammy because of no color wheel. I have large speakers and Im looking at building a box for the 82 that has 4 12 subs in it. My panasonic screen flexes with current sub and my towers will even move the screen. Worried about the wheel getting knocked loose.

Considered a cheap lcd for normal use and a projector for movie use, but I dont really want to mess with a screen and would like everything to look large.

I hate the pic on most lcds and plasmas have always looked funny. The kuros I liked but screen burn in was an issue. The new led sammy lcds look good but still to bright.

So is there anyone who has a mit on most of the time? Anybody have large subs and no screen or wheel issues?

The pioneer kuros do a good job on making sd look good. Is sd real bad on the big mits or just looks bad compared to hd? I try and watch everything in hd or digital cable. Theres still alot in sd and will be for awhile.

No one here has rptvs on display. I will be going completly off internet reviews and ordering online from an auth dealer so any info is greatly appriciated. For reference I have a panasonic projection tv from 2001 That I think still has a good picture. The darks are to dark though and the brights are to bright now, thinking bulb is dimming. Anything will be an improvement over this. Just want to make the best choice and be good for another 8 years.

4 12" sub ? The TV should be the least of your concerns. The vibration can make a BD disk jump out of the drawer! Just kidding...

If you want the big stuff, there is actually very few choices and the Mitsu 82" is the only game in town. I have a 73927 and ,IMO, bulb sucks. Many people here will tell you it doesn't dim and it lasts for more than 4000 hours. In my experience, first bulb died after only 900 hours and second one started to dim so badly that I had to replace it. That's not the worse, though : bulbs do get weaker after few hundred hours and you will need to recalibrate your set from time to time. Again, a lot of people will tell you the bulb remains as bright after 2000 hours as it was when brand new.

Having said that, there are strong reasons to consider the 82" Mitsubishi: It's realatively cheap, picture is good with HD movies, not the worst with SD , no burn in and a huge screen.

I am waiting for the Panasonic 65V10 and will replace my 73927 if I like it. I had problems with my Mitsu and my set had to be replaced twice because a bogus digital channel in my area was causing it to lock up. I know I will miss the size, though.

The 927's are from 2005, aren't they? Still 150W instead of 180W bulbs too? Personally, I'm very impressed with how much nicer my 2009 is than my 2004.

Dark Detailer (iris for added contrast range); day/night calibration settings per input; Perfect Tint; Net Command; better remote (Edit: Nope, same craptastic remote); extra hdmi input (4 vs 3); usb input. I think that's it on 837 vs 737. 837 will be top of the line for the bulb models. There's still Laser Vue above that, presumably.

Yes, and I believe the 2009's are better. I never complained about picture quality and I still like it for movies. I could never use the tuner without major problems like picture and no sound or vice-versa. Since the set was replaced twice and the problem didn't go away, I gave up and no longer used the tuner. I search on the web showed a bogus channel in my area was causing problems with certain TVs, specially Mitsubishi . I also have to say the guys from Mitsubishi were very nice and didn't let me down but couldn't find a fix for the problem. I dealt with engineers from California and the regional manager here in south Florida.

The new 180 watts bulb is probably better but my 73927 can only enjoyed in a completely dark room. The "bright" mode makes the picture look terrible and the "natural" is only good at night. Keep in mind that the 82" has the same 180 watts the 60" has and almost twice the area .

Well, I'm not going to brag on the stellar quality of the tuner on the 2009. Haven't had any issues with it not working, or freezing up, and I don't use it much nor intend to. . . but I do have an indoor antenna on it as a backup and to pick up a couple digital HD channels that local Comcast hasn't added yet. I'm finding it generally takes over 3 seconds for the TV to bring in a digital channel on the OTA tuner. Comcast box via HDMI does it in something less than 2 seconds.

I currently have a sony 60" sxrd a 2000 with a horrible green blob problem and refuse to pay near 1000 dollars to fix it when I can get a new 73" 737 for 1800! I was wondering If any one could post pictures of the picture on the 73 in 737. I live in ohio and currently no one carries these and they can only be ordered online. only store that has the mitsubishi around here is HHGregg and they tried to sell me a 73" 735 series claiming that it was just as good and the 737 arent even out yet lol ! If any one who actually owns a 73737 can post pics of the picture i would greatly appreciate it and help me to make the jump to buy one. I know there was pics bad pics of a 65 on here but was wondering how the 73 looked if it was bright enough and looked as good i will be sitting 12 feet away from it. Thank you for any and all help you can give me with my desicion.

Video Games on a big screen 737.

Dear 737 owners, I want to ask you about video game performance. Are any of you gamers? Have you noticed any significant lag when playing? What type of games have you tried? Have you played any multiplayer games online?

P.S. -- Thank you georule for answering my previous questions about model numbers.

All you lucky 737 series owners please post pics of your tv picture on here for all of us less fortunate people who dont have any stores to see the picture quality of these new sets. I want one really bad but cant bring myself to order one with never seeing what the picture looks like on it. I know its a hassle, but please post if ya got em.

Thank you

There are some on the first page from a 60737, but I have a suspicion they're at OOB settings (Brilliant/High Temp). Natural/Low Temp is much less garish. I got the DVE Blu-ray on Friday and checked it against my TV in Natural/Low Temp, and was very pleased with the results. About the only thing that looked significantly different than it should was the TV is set to overscan. Which since I'm not a gamer with this set, doesn't cause me too much heartburn.

FWIW, I have a sub with 4 12" drivers directly behind my 73736, and have had no problems in the past 9 months that I've had it. In fact, if you look at the last pic in this post, you will see that one driver fires directly into the back of the TV (there's about 2-3" of clearance between the driver and the back of the TV). There's another driver on the back of the sub directly opposite of the visible one, and the other two drivers are at the top near the ceiling. I was a bit concerned before I got it all installed, but the screen doesn't even vibrate noticeably.

Thanks Darin for assuring me of the steady screen. I remember seeing that build now. How often do you use your tv? All I need now are a few people to tell me they use there's alot everyday. I may have to pull the trigger before rear projection vanishes.

Here's a couple pics of my WD-60737.

http://www.civilwarstlouis.com/WD60737A.jpg
http://www.civilwarstlouis.com/WD60737B.jpg

I found it really hard to get pics that do it justice. If I use a flash it doesn't look nearly as bright as it does in reality. If I don't use a flash then the pic looks like "shaky cam" not giving accurate reflection of PQ.

These two pics are in natural light with two windows in the room facing more or less north in mid-afternoon. No flash. The disc is my Blu-ray of FF:RotSS. The ballpark photo is probably the best. The blob of light you see upper right is actually the reflection of one of the windows in the room. The Ben and the Bear pic looks pretty good colorwise, but if you look at the numbers on the AV equipment below the TV you can see it's gone "shaky cam" and isn't really nearly as sharp as it looks in real life due to the exposure time and an unsteady hand.

georule,

The first pic looks pretty good... at least gives a rough idea of what a night scene looks like.

In the second pic... bottom-right corner there is some light showing in the black letterbox bar... is this light a reflection on the screen from another light source in the room, or is it light coming from the back of the TV itself?

One day at a time...

That would be reflection from light from the second window in the room, which is to the far right of the set, and is actually a door with a full length window in the middle. I'd actually left that scene paused and just looked again to be sure. You can actually see it a little bit in the ballpark photo too at lower right.

Gaming has no lag for me running the Xbox 360 in 1080p with HDMI cables.

I've played Call of Duty 4 online, Guitar Hero World Tour, Godfather II, HAWX, Aces of Combat 6, I think? It looks better to me than the Samsung LED or Mitsubishi 736's were.

I love it.

Just purchased my 73737 online at BB It will be here Friday! I promise to post some pics after I get it up and running. Hopefully I get it when I am supposed to. It was 1999 free delivery and yes im a sucker I bought a 4 year geek squad protection plan that covers it for 4 years and it cost 399. Its my first big tv purchase and wife kinda nagged me to get it cause her father got one on his big tv and had it serviced twice allready(samsung). I will try to post a standard def pic a 1080i direct tv pic and a 1080p bluray pic once everything is set up. Wish me luck!

nice pics there. excellent looking blacks for the tv. i'm anxious to get my hands on a dlp now. the bars looks nice too. how's the top one, since i remember the bottom isn't affected by light shining thru as the top one does. I might have to settle for a 65" but i'll be happy.
what in the world does a best buy warranty cover for 399? better be worth it. doubt they can do repairs though without shipping the tv off out of state like my labtop last week.

Haven't noticed any light leakage, tho I've only had it about 10 days. I did watch The Last Waltz, Speed Racer, and FF:RotSS on blu-ray since I've had it.

The BB 399 for 4 year coverage covers any and all problems with your tv. If they cant fix it they give you a new one. If it isnt available anymore they will give u a tv up to a certain price depending on what you payed for yours. theres a lemon law thing to if samepart breaks a couple times u get new one covers 1 bulb replacement. All details are on bb website of exactly what they cover. I in no way endorse service plans or want to pay for them but it was a kinda The wife said If I want the tv I gota get the service plan because if it breaks shes not gona let me get another one kinda deal. lol

Since I just went through this after 4 failures you get a PSP exchange(I was given the option of a psp exchange after 2 LE failures with the second one taking quite awhile to get in stock). The PSP exchange is up to the store manager but what I found was they would look for an equivalent tv and do a straight swap if you brought it in store to exchange or had their delivery guys do the swap. If they do not have anything equivalent they will give you credit based on a new SKU of something comparable regardless of what you previously paid.

I paid $1999 for a 61" JVC LCoS. I took the PSP exchange. If the store had a comparable tv I would have received that tv with no credit or no money owed. The store had no new projections so they found a SKU for some comparable tv so they offered me $1499.99 + tax as that was the price for the comp.

I was told it was store credit and not a gift card which could not be used online or to buy buy gift cards. Both of which were incorrect.

I also took the plunge & got the 73737 from Best Buy. Suppose to arrive Wed. I didn't want to cough up a ton for the stand so I got a Lack TV Stand from IKEA for $69. I put the stand together & it looks pretty nice. It holds up to 143 lbs & the TV weighs 93 so it should work out. I haven't got a warranty yet. I'm looking into Mack or DTV Express. They are both a lot cheaper then BB. Has anyone gone through DTV?
