Okie-doo, boys and girls. Here's the dill.
Picked up an OLD tv off of Craigslist (not a Mitsubishi RPTV, but everyone's gotta start somewhere) and it's a Phillips 55" 55P8341.
The screen has what looks like tw fresnel lenses behind it that the picture is projected onto. These are "caved in", away from the screen on the right hand side, right now. Beginning to tear TV down to nuts and bolts to see how many extra pieces I'll have left over when I put it back together, and have a question or two.
First, there is a liner that the fresnels slide into to hold them in place. Looks kind of like a clip on all four sides that extends out from a piece of wood set to anchor clip in place. I can get MOST of the fresnel to fit behind 3 of the 4 clips. At this point, the lens doesn't want to bend enough to fit behind the 4th clip (One for each side). I'm becoming worried that I will have to remove the actual piece of wood, position the fresnel, and re-staple the wood in order to do this properly.
Also...in all my brilliance, I didn't realize the mirror was Mylar at first. Where do I find replacements, now that I sprayed Windex on it? I know, I know, newbish in nature, but it happens.
I've found an awful lot of spare parts out there. Are there boards I can install that will allow for HDMI, more component inputs, stuff like that?
