hey guys, looking for some bulb purchasing advice and i found this thread.

i recently purchased this bulb for my WD-65833 set (i'm on number 2 now, bought the tv when they were first released, 8300hrs on it now).
http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-915...cmu_pg__header

when i received it, it was nothing like the OEM replacement i had received when the tv was under warranty. check out the user pictures i added to the Amazon item for comparison.
so i found this thread, and River Valley referenced as a source.

is the item pictured actually what i'm going to get?

if not, should i just buy from Mitsu just to be sure i'm getting the right thing?
all these cheap knockoffs are annoying as hell...

thanks for the help
Chaz

for anybody who finds this thread from a google search, as i did...
just an update.

i did purchase from River Valley's ebay page, and received an Osram bulb in an OEM Mitsubishi housing.
the bulb and assembly are perfect, and match my oem components.

River Valley is no longer selling lamps/bulbs. I called them.

$82 for the lamp, $106 for the whole lamp assembly.

MCM wants $15.49 for ground shipping, pretty high if you ask me and for just the bulb.

These guys are pretty expensive for the bulb I need. They have free shipping, but are still more expensive than MCM with shipping.

I have tried to contact both Projector Nova and Projector Parts off Amazon. No response after one complete business day. That is not a good sign if you need to contact them for any issues that might arise. I'm going to give them a few more days to respond.

I'm want either a Philips or Osram. I have a WD-57831 which uses 915P049020. I know this thread has been dead awhile, but anyone else have any recent feedback from places they have used?

Thanks

Try http://www.dlplampsource.com/. I bought my first replacement lamp from them. No problems and I think shipping was either free or pretty much insignificant.

Keep calm and drive a Camaro

Even more expensive, but they include 2nd air shipping. I'm not in a big hurry though.

Thanks

A little, depends on how they ship them. BTW, these are lamps.

VB, I looked up the Osram bulb only and added to the cart and that was what it gave me for shipping.

Anyway, my research of is over, I ended up going with Projector Nova off Amazon. I emailed back and forth with them a few times and they answered all my questions. Projector parts still never got back to me.

I will post back good or bad on how things go.

I'm also going to follow VB's cleaning after I put the bulb in and make sure things are working as they did.

I've had good results from Dynamic Lamps on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/shops/dynamiclamps

Another poster here spoke very highly of Nio on eBay and they have high ratings: http://stores.ebay.com/neilampsandelectronics

In both cases you will find they sell clearly advertised-as-such Philips lamps, or Osram, as well as the cheaper Chinese knockoffs. That is okay as long as they are clear with you what item you are getting and they ship that item.

In dealing with other sellers, beware of the term 'OEM equivalent', which does NOT mean 'OEM'. OEM-equivalent is a wishy-washy meaningless term. Another clue is the price, you will not get a genuine Philips or Osram bare lamp for less than $50.

Bare lamps might come with the pigtails and connector, or not. If the connector in your housing is in bad shape you should go for the housing + lamp.

I used to recommend River Valley but noticed that their stocks are very low or no-stock in what I wanted. They were reliable when they had what I wanted.

The first two posts have been updated.

The market has apparently changed again.

I received the new assembly i four days from the west coast. It arrived in a foam padded box.
Below are photos of the existing assembly with the replacement lamp and this at the right. Note the difference in the side openings. The fine screening vs the plastic grid in it's place to improve airflow. Also note the dull appearance of the original plastic housing around the lens opening and the plastic vs metal cover on the back of the housing. The original fine mesh screen on the Mits housing was removed at the 1st replacement.

They also provide details on ID'ing a true Philips lamp vs knock offs which include using a Philips box with a no-name lamp inside.
