I REALLY like my NEC XM29plus, it is exactly what I was looking for. However it has a very noisy fan in it, and I'm wondering if it is replacable with a quieter fan like a pabst or even a panaflow.

I have no experience messing around in monitors but I'm game to try if its a decent idea.

Anyone know of how this might be possible?

Thanks,
Ross

Philips certainly kept the fact they were exchanging two fans on my 64PH9905 under wraps. Learned here they were doing this and finally got a local service tech to replace them for Philips under the warranty. Was routine since he'd done several. Made a world of difference; they're nearly silent now. (They're internal, so all I recall is that they're Panasonic models.) There have been several threads about fan replacements in the CRT section and elsewhere on the web. Key of course is getting the right voltage, size, and airflow. -- John
