I recently decided to try to fix or atleast do something w/ my old TV.
Its a RCA Rear Proj TV model - D52W23

I press the power and it turns on/off 3 times w/ some sort of sound as it starts.
After that, it turns off and wont turn back on.

I'm looking to see if anyone knows what the problem could be and if its something I can fix or if I should just take it to a tv repair place.

I have attached a video of the problem.

Ok well I was given a rca 63or 65" I could not tell you the exact modle the plastic plat was missing. It did basicly the same thing...
so I looked up rca hdtv tv repair on utube and blamo here's this guy he explains that the board to the left has three little redish looking plastick fues on that board they were like 1.25 amps ,he tested them and found on bad, well on mine those were all fine, on that board.
But on the board, right next to it there are two more, I removed the board and took a peace of copper wire aprox no.10 guage cut the sheild off and then cut about an inch
then I used one little stran and soildered that in place of the fuse.
and it works now. this is only a temperary fix you need to replace with the proper fuse. I think it has somthing to do with the convegence?

OK, so I dropped it off at a TV repair place a few days ago and they found teh issue.
They said it was the POWER DEFLECTION BOARD and would cost around $400 to fix.
Thats INSANE because Id buy a new TV for that $$.
I also tried to locate that part, so that maybe I can give it a try myself but no luck.
The repair guy did say he'd have to order the part himself, so I may check to see how much it was from him.
