Have a three year old Mitsubishi WD60735 dlp tv. About a month ago the picture started to get noticeably dark even with contrast and brightness turned all of the way up. I figured that it was a lamp issue so I replaced the lamp. However, there is no noticeable difference between the old and new lamp. Any other suggestions?
How many lamp hours?
Have you cleaned the inner lens? Search this sub forum how to do both.
Brand new lamp, and cleaned the front lens (removed the screen) and cleaned the lens that abuts the lamp, I opened the back and found massive amounts of dust, went a few layers down but stopped at what I think is the light engine, couldn't access any more lenses.
My bad, I should of specified inner lens of the light engine.
Look for my thread on "no more halos". I also was looking for the set hours.
Over how long a period of time did you notice it? Was it all at once, days or weeks?
It might be trouble with a processing board, not optical/lamp related.
I never heard of any of these getting 'dark' except over thousands of hours of use.
It was over a several month period. It wasn't bad at first, I just noticed that I had to turn up the brightness a few notches and that would return it to normal. But once I had turned the brightness up full it became very noticeable quick. It went from normal looking (maybe a little dark in a bright room) to unwatchable within about 3 weeks.
I will have to say it's a electronic issue, no idea where to start.
You do have the service manual don't you?
No I don't but I imagine that I could probably find one online somewhere.
Ours turned dark picture pretty much over night. Is it a lamp or does anyone know? Changing contrast & brightness didn't affect it.
