I paid $1600 for this 55" in 2006; It was the last year Mitsubishi made a 3 gun Rear projection unit.

I had it calibrated in 2008 by Craig Rounds; I believe that is his name.

Anyway, Is it worth getting the unit that is a dying breed calibrated? It has a good picture but I probably have adjusted my eyes to it. I clean the surface of the lenses every 12 months.

I have the WD-57732, about 6 years old. I had a guy replace the bulb & re-calibrate it a few years ago. When visitors come to the house they rave about the PQ. So I guess it is OK. I have a very quiet 4" fan to help draw the heat out when it overheats.
I like some of the newer sets that use Wi-Fi. Right now I have the Directv DVR hooked up wired to my broadband.
