Yes changing to bright mode will stop the flicker but it won't be long before the bulb goes out. This exact thing just happened to me.

Mine first started to do this a long time ago. So far my bulb is still fine. The flicker happens maybe one or two times a month. I just switch it to bright and back to the lower mode and it's fine.

So thanks to Aaron's Rents, I have one of the 642 series (73 inch) and just realized it would be nice to have a surround sound system perhaps attached to it.  Now I say this lightly.  I have a bluray/surround player and while that is great and fine, I can not use said surround for just usual TV watching, say through my computer, or my Roku.  I am sort of at a loss with this particular tv as I have only had it a year, and it is not like any other tv I have ever had.  Any help would be appreciated!

Connect your cable box and Blue Ray DVD Player to the TV using HDMI cable and then connect an outgoing HDMI cable or optical cable from the the Mitsubishi to your stereo receiver.

I do not have a stereo receiver (well, one that is not 15 years old)

I have the three HDMI connections as follows,

One: PC

Two: BluRay

Three: Roku

And the input 1 is attached to the Wii.  ARGH

I see my only possible option is a receiver I can connect to via the TV's Digital Audio Output but what would I be looking for on a receiver for the input?  I am really out of my element over here, thanks to thus tv, tho I love it, and it is frustrating lol

Would something like this work???

So...I can't get my screen clean. WD-82842, continuing to get "smear." Any recommendations? For both cleaner and cloth. Thanks!

I just use a soft cloth with plain ol' water. Have you already tried that?

No maybe I've been overthinking it; I bought a spray supposedly for screens, with its own cloth, but its doesn't seem to clear off my 2 year old's fingerprints down the bottom of the screen, and when deployed all over, seems to leave as much reflective "smear" as before. I'll try your method, try to keep it basic, see what happens, thanks.

Sprayway's the one!

That's the only one Display Guru Mr. Bob uses, and according to my own research it is unsurpassed for gentle cleaning without leaving a residue.

Basically any modern 5.1 receiver would work, but then you would have to have two front speakers, a center speaker, two back speakers and a subwoofer to attach it to.

I've had luck just using the steam from my breadth and my micro fiber eye glasses cloth. Some folks swear by just using bottled distilled water as it is cleaner (no minerals) than tap water.

Screen uniformity

I have a question about screen uniformity. I read a review that was critical of the 738 series for poor screen uniformity in its lighting. In other words, brighter in the middle of the screen and noticeably less bright up in the top corners. Is this something that is just part of the rear projection/ DLP bulb lit technology that every set is going to have to some degree or are the higher end 838, 840 and 842 series more uniform in their lighting than the lower series. Thanks.

I have owned sets older and newer than the model referred to and have never seen the issue you describe.

Has anyone gotten a lamp from discount-merchant.com? It looks like they have the oem lamps, but I want to make sure we get the good ones, not the knock off ones.

Or is there a better place that carries them cheaper online?

If you have that in a RPTV, I would investigate the screen for "bowing". Most likely the center of the screen is pushed in more than the corners. I actually DID have that on an old 65" DLP RPTV, but I resolved it with a suction cup with a hook attached to it. Pressed it in the center of the screen and pulled a bit. Screen sort of popped. Resolved the uniformity and also resolved my problem with slightly blurrier PC text in the center of my screen.

Current HT setup:

Samsung UN65F6300 65" LCD HDTV, Polk CS20 Center, 2x Polk Monitor 75T Fronts, 2x Polk TSI300 Backs, Polk PSW110 Subwoofer.

Yes, but they recently raised the price by $20.00. I believe the OP is looking for a more reasonable price.

Clear contrast screen

Hi,

I know someone selling his 82840, but there are some other lower model sets around I can buy for less $. Is the clear contrast screen a significant upgrade to the matte screens on lower models. My room is light controlled.

This was being talked about as such a big issue (glare) that it almost prevented me from getting one. My 92842 has the clear contrast screen and I don't notice the glare at all and my room has lots of natural lighting. I wouldn't let this stop you from getting one with clear contrast especially if you can prevent light through shades, curtains, etc.

I wasn't aware of the price increase, but figured if I was ordering a lamp I might as well get two, and I always shop online for deals on things. I don't want a knock off I'll have short life or issues from, but do want the best possible price on them...

EDIT: looks like mits only sells them with the housing now for $119 plus $10 shipping.

I got the lamp only from discount merchants for only $76 with free shipping, saving me just over $50!

They also throw in a $5 handling fee and tax on top of that last I knew... I think I'm gonna try http://www.discounttvlamps.com and get a Philips lamp for my 73640.

From Mits with Michigan tax comes to $141.74 shipped vs $84.94 for a lamp with housing from the site above (not sure if they have a crappy handling fee or not).

It might have been nice to get the housing as well for the extra $10, but I can easily replace the new lamp in the old housing.

I wonder why they suddenly decided to milk all their dlp customers?

Supply and demand. When they quit making DLPs, a lot of Chicken Littles got scared and stocked up on lamps.

So how does it work? Are you happy with it? Did you get the bare lamp or lamp with housing?

Doesn't the housing come with the lamp? I've never purchased a lamp for any of my DLP sets. my 2007 Toshiba DLP is still on the original lamp and my 2008 Sammy DLP set uses LEDs. But I guess i will need to get one at some point for my 2012 Mitsubishi DLP set. It is over 1.5 years old now and I have seen the flicker occur on occassion. But it doesn't happen very often.

Mitsubishi C12 supporting ARC?

Mitsubishi C12 supporting ARC?

I have a 73 inch set that only has 2 HDMI ports on the back panel. I have a samsung sound bar that I'm trying to use with my Apple TV, cable set-top box and a blu-ray player. Anticipating making these devices work together, I bought a 4-way HDMI switcher. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to come up with any configuration that works. Samsung support says that the television needs to support ARC. Does my televisions support ARC? Is there any other way to make these components work with each other?

The sound bar doesn't have HDMI inputs? Everything should input to the sound bar over HDMI. Then the HDMI output of the sound bard goes to one HDMI input on the TV.
