I've had this TV for about 8 years now and I've loved it. It's very rare for me not to upgrade for this long of a period of time with these kind of products, this set was the ONE exception that I hung onto for so long, as I always thought the picture and sound quality was outstanding. But now I have the blinking light of death again and can't be bothered to fix it again....decided it was a sign to move on to a newer set. Anyhow, my question is it worth anything or should I just give it away for free to whoever wants to come and pick it up. I'm located on Long Island.

EDIT: For those of you not aware, this was originally a $5k TV and was basically known as the "Cadillac" of CRT's. Mitsubishi's flagship diamond series model.

Thanks,
Kevin

The only reason that I'd give it away is that it will take some effort to fix. With economics being what they are, and all the displays out there at good prices, giving it to a thoughtful person sounds most realistic to me.

It's the model that I have, and I actually paid the videophile who pampered it $500 four years ago.

I agree, if there is someone here who will appreciate this set, it's yours for free if you pick it up and haul it away. The fix on this is really quite easy, 2 capacitors from radio shack.

You might want to post it on the nearby Don't Dump Your CRT TV thread. I'm sure there are some posters in Long Island or close by.

But if it's an easy and cheap fix, why don't you fix it, as it is a really good set?

Had been debating for a few years to finally get a new set with 1080p and hdmi and all that so when I got the blinking light again, I said ok now is the time. Have a new panny 60vt60 being delivered tomorrow. Have no where else to put this big boy. Cant be bothered to fix it...too wrapped up in setting up a new HT, purchasing new equipment including a new receiver and stand and rear speakers.

Understood.

I'm waiting for an affordable 90-100 inch 4K OLED, myself.

Good luck with the new setup!
