New to the DLP scene

Hi everyone I was given a samsung HL-P5063W 50' for free and I love this tv the picture is awesome. The reason I am here is cause my tv has a hdmi and a dvi input but when I try to hook up my samsung HT-A100 home theater system with hdmi cable no picture but it will pic up singal threw the rgb output. Any help that I can get to run hdmi would be great thanks

'I'd try running the Samsung HDMI cable to the DVI port. You'll need an adapter (AmazonBasics HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable (9.8 Feet/3.0 Meters)). This will only carry the video to the TV. (DVI is video only) You'll need to run your audio separately.

Maybe your HDMI port is faulty, or won't handshake with your device,

Ok thanks also will I notice a huge difference in the picture ?

Honestly, I don't know. If your source outputs 1080 through RGB, then your TV's RGB inputs should be capable of 1080i.
