Just got one of these from Goodwill for about 30 bucks. The TV didn't turn on when I bought it, so it was a gamble hoping that the screen wasn't physically damaged. Well I made sure to turn it on as this is my first "projection" style TV. I immediately saw that there was blinking red lights, googled, read a little bit and knew I could fix it.
My first issue was 4 blinking red lights, I looked up in the service manual, and it said Fan not being able to spin, or wires, etc. I basically took it out, cleaned it pretty good, sprayed it with canned air, put it back in and it's good to go. No more 4 Blinking red lights.
My next issue was 3 blinking red lights which according to the service manual indicates that the lamp isn't seated in all the way, or there is an issue with the switches. It doesn't tell you which switch, but upon further research I found out that they are whats called the T1 and T3 switches. This basically tells the TV that the lamp is seated properly and everything is good to go as far as that is concerned. I cleaned them, moved them around, did what I could, still 3 red blinking lights. Well what I did was heat my soldering gun up, and I just put solder on the 3 leg pins on the actual switch, which connected them together. This is also known as "jumping", to complete the circuit. These switches aren't anything fancy and they don't do anything else except to tell the TV that the lamp is seated. Well after I put the solder on both the T1 and T3 leg pins, I pressed the button and waited! Nothing....Not a green light, not anything. I go back and look at everything when I see the problem. I forgot to PLUG IN THE TV IN!! Face palming myself right now. Anyways so I plug the TV in, press the button and BINGO! She lights up PERFECT. I think whoever owned this before put in a new lamp, because it looks pretty new, and when she still had the issue just gave up and gave it to goodwill. Anyways, I just wanted to share incase any other random googlers or anybody on this board had a 3 Red Blinking Light issue.
