As for the blue line, it's a known flaw with the optical block. The solution is to have it rebuilt, but there no guarantee it won't return. I agree with Steve, if it bothers you, the best fix is a new TV.

Yeah, I tried the -1 but its just not enough %reduction to fix it.
And the Game option must only work when using some other connection type.

Sigh.

Hey gang, my old 50" gwiv's lamp is on it's last leg. I'm at a cross roads; the tv works fine, do I spend money on a new lamp, or do I just put that money towards a new tv? I've always wanted a 60", maybe this is the time to buy. Thanks for any advice.

Hey Steve...

It might be time. I finally ditched my 60XS955 for the curved Sony 65" LCD, and have been pretty happy with it overall.

How long do you want to keep watching your rear-projection? If it's serving you well and money is tight, stick with it to the end. But at some point you are going to replace it, so the question is sooner or later?

Sub-1080p/60fps is not next-gen.

Hi daverj, it's getting up there in age, it works fine, but it's got to be close to 10 years old. I'm thinking it's time to start looking. Now the research begins, LOL. Thanks for the reply.

It's time! Prices are amazing on 1080p TVs and are dropping on 4K. Your 768p TV gave you a decade's worth of pleasure but I think you deserve something better now!

Sony KDL-55HX729, Sony STR-DH820 Receiver, Sony BDP-S590 BD Player, Sony SA-W2500 subs, Sony, SS-CN5000 center channel, Sony SS-F6000 left and right front speakers, Sony 3D Glasses: TDG BR-750 & TDG-BR250, Apple TV, APC Back Up UPS XS1500, Apple Airport Extreme.

Hi Steve ans,

I'm going to start looking - any advice on a good replacement? Not looking to go crazy, I'd like to stay under $2,000 if possible. Thanks again for the advice.

Plasma, before they are all gone.

If your optical block is showing signs of going out you may still qualify for a slight (15%?) discount from Sony.

Hmm.. I've read that Panasonic is the plasma to get, the only problem is that my living has a big window and bright sunlight, the plasma in our bedroom turns into a mirror in sunlight, LOL. Also, I can't find anyplace that sells panny's in the Cleveland, Ohio area. I'll have to do a bit of research. Thanks for the advice.

You tried Cleveland Plasma?

Good luck finding a new Panasonic plasma anywhere, much less at a reasonable price. Your best bet right now is to get a Samsung F8500 while you still can, but those are going fast.

Hey everyone, thanks for the advice. I am currently speaking with Cleveland av. Have any of you ever purchased through him? If so, how did it go?
