Will you please stop with the green/yellow tint issue already.

I agree. I set up my set using Avia and it's nearly perfect. Theater Pro is fantastic and no green/yellow tint on my set. In fact, I leave the set in Theater Pro most of the time and only switch to Standard for sports...

The problem is that Auditor was unwilling to make any adjustments. If it's not perfect from the factory, it's not satisfactory.

Oh well.

I think I would be doing a disservice to fellow forum members if I didn't inform new owners and potential owners about the pitfalls of the JVC's. More and more information is coming out about JVC's and their problems,

I really haven't said anything, but this last comment has gone too far.

You don't own the set anymore so drop your 'dis' JVC campaign now!
Every set here has at least one issue. How many sets have you returned so far? Stop haunting threads of sets that you don't have.

Why don't you start a thread on "What's wrong with........"
Include; audio sync, screen smudges, lamps, bugs inside the sets crawling around, fan noise, purity, convergence, CA, RBE, SSE, false contouring, macroblocking, image tilt, green blobs, HDMI handshaking, lousy digital tuners, power consumption when off, SD image quality, side speakers, Sonys' ugly silver cabinets.

Did I forget anything??

You don't see me 'haunting' the Mits 1080 thread. I said what I wanted, started my own thread about the issues Mits admitted existed. They refused to do anything about them until possible the next model, so back it went after two letters to the right places. Too bad, it was a nice set, plenty of inputs, two digital tuners and a great image. If they could only get the basics correct.

Yea, I know what you mean. Very frustrating, I kinda went thru the same thing. DOA, called JVC, they said 'sorry, call a tech', so I called a tech and they said 3 weeks, called JVC back, they found someone that could look at it within days (100 miles away but I didn't care). So 3 visits later, 2 wasted vacation days, my TV is fixed. My problem was more in the retailer and or shipper than the manufacturer so my frustration subsided once I realized that.

Bottom line is that once your set is repaired or the issues resolved, you will truly love the picture. It took me about a month to say that, but I love it now and I'm getting it ISF'd within a few weeks. I watched West Wing last night in regular digital resolution and it was as sharp as my other TV in HiDef resolution. I was very pleased

I tried to watch TV and a DVD through my JVC TV and
nothing comes up with either device using HDMI.

toddtrues did get his JVC working by reseting the HDMI ports via the service menu. You really have to like this forum!

Yes it worked for him...I wish he would post the positive results in the 4 threads that he stated this problem.

Yes--good example: for the tint issue with Theater Pro, videobruce suggested setting Color Temp to High. I did and no more tint!

I think Auditor55 is packing up his current sxrd for return. Looks like 55 never keeps a set for more than the 30 day return policy - free 30 days of TV and a license to complain on the forums.

It is amazing when there are easy adjustments that you can do with a remote control, such as the color drives in the SM, that 55 keeps stating that we have defective sets. As 55's post tally increases, many potential buyers may be swayed by thinking 55 is credible, when in reality - when the majority of the negative comments of a thread is from one individual, they are just a troll.

I have to say that auditor55 does provide valid information in about 20% of his post. The problem is in knowing which 20%. This sounds like I'm trying to make a joke, but I'm really not. I do think that he's searching for lab grade equipment at consumer prices which isn't going to happen.

Samsung 64F8500, Panasonic 65VT50, Oppo 95, Tivo Roamio for OTA, Dish VIP722, Marantz AV8801 preamp, Rotel Amps, Atlantic Tech 8200 speakers, Seaton Submersive HP, Calman 5, Chromapure, Accupel DVG-5000, i1Display3pro, i1pro2, eecolor colorbox.

I think that's why Sears now has a restocking fee.

Wait till the large electronics retailers figure out that by sharing information on "renters" they can all benefit.

For those of you who have issues with their JVC sets you can email your complaints to:

jtutor@jvc.com

That is what I did early on with my previous JVC.

I did get my HDMI Connections working by going into the service menu and resetting the entire TV. HORRAY, HORRAY.. The big question.. Why couldn't JVC customer service support help me with this in one of the 8 calls I logged with them?

I agree with you 100% but next time ask for tech support and ask for level 2 or 3 support. They should know more than the first support level contact.

The HDMI reset procedure is in the service menu. No manufacturer is going to tell any consumer over the phone how to do anything in the service menu for the simple reason that the consumer may inadvertently change some other setting and mess up the set. While we may know enough not to mess with settings in there that we aren't sure about, the person at tech support has no way of knowing we aren't going to ruin the set.

this doesn't just apply to tv mfgs. Auto mfgs make service bulletins available to their dealerships all the time, but will not make them available to owners of the vehicles.

Again, that works in theory.. but I was at my wits end with this device and talked to several layers of supervisors. So what they are saying is that they would rather lose a customer, than take a chance to step them through 3 items in a service menu? I find your car dealership example humorous... I can understand the rigor for vehicles where if I did something wrong i could put my life and other lives in danger... No offense, but poor example.. Seems funny that I have had problems with computers and the manufacturer had no problem walking me through how to install certain items within a laptop or a desktop that required removing hardware and replacing jumpers (as an example)... This doesn't excuse JVC from anything in my book. They have significant problems with their customer service. They don't even fill out their call logs properly...

Yeah and in any fraternity or other group setting there's always one guy who needs to build himself up by constantly dominating the conversation, like with 3900 posts in 4 years, which is nearly 3 per day. Ever think of getting a real life?
