The following is a snip of the post I assume you're replying to and I put it here to put this post in context, since we wouldn't understand which codes you're talking about without it...

codes I would try (in order of increasing danger!)
147 412 356 Warm Reset
653 214 741 Cold Reset
653 274 147 System Reset

No, it's a COLD RESET, equivalent to you rebooting your PC.

NO, it's a System Reset, which is what you should try, equivalent to reinstalling Windoze, Linux, etc.

It's a WARM RESET.

Google search one night, long ago, for a particular TVGOS code. Don't recall where it came from although I also see one on Spiff's new Forum.

It's funny you mentioned this...I actually did this last week after having no luck trying to pull TVGOS from my local CBS. It didn't take but few minutes to relabel the inputs and add the tweaks, but it didn't solve my Guide problem. No biggie since I don't use the Guide with this set, but my Sony HDD500 is pulling TVGOS from the local PBS analog station and I am in no mood to force it to pull data from CBS station right now. I think I may contact the local CBS O&O.

That was about 7 months ago and it looks like the blooming/halo is returning. The 831 series seems to suffer from a design flaw that allows dirt to accumulate inside the lens assembly causing the degeneration of the image over time.

My point is, call Mits and see if they can offer a solution for you. Don't let your retailer jerk you around and don't buy anything from them again.

It may sound silly, and some may not understand, but im so done with this tv. I want it gone and I want to see something flat in its place, that does not require bulbs! lol

shoot me a message with a contact number... The tv will stay set up for viewing until it sells.

WD-65734, out of warranty, no bulb replacement, no LE replaced... purchased 9-07 I was hoping someone could tell me if my problem is the same as the blooming issue. All of the Blues on the tv are very intense! When you see something that is maybe a digital color blue, there is ahloaround that.. and when you should see a white shirt for example, the shadows are all blue instead of maybe gray. I was watching Indiana jones on the Blueray and it seems that all of the light reflections.. eyes, shadows extra look alittle blue sometimes and very blue other times. I have read Poodles post on the LE cleaning and I am prepared to attempt it, just thought I would make certain the issue could be the same, as I have not seen the problem described as blue.. thnak you.

We loved our 2002 Mits Diamond CRT RPTV (always worked -always looked perfect) and we hated to give it up (gave it to friends) when we moved. I wish I could say the same thing about our 57831...between the repairs, the lamps and lens clearning we don't share the same enthusiasm. It's actually quite fitting that my daughter had her first accident in the house and cracked the screen the other day. Seven years old and she's never broken anything...not even a scratched BD or DVD. To be honest, I am temped to move this set into the guest bedroom and replace it with a 67' Samsung LED, but we have another 2-years and 1 free lamp replacement on our extended warranty so the wife said no.

Mitsubishi had better make an affordable, and reliable, Laservue when we're ready to buy our next set in 2011 or we're looking elsewhere.

After the n'th call to Mits California (not India or where ever the outsourced company is), I'm told there is a firmware update for the xx732 series which, if I recall, I remember seeing someone post about this version.

The current version is V8.01, the updated version is V8.03 and it addresses the following;

"M" Cable Card: error message: Invalid Host certificate
TVGOS data can not be decoded (from a digital channel)

Details to follow when I receive it.

Call Mits parts, give them the part number and ask them if it is in stock. Don't tell them you are a consumer, but a independent serviceman. Just talk like you know what you are doing and this is what you need.

I've been around the block a few times.
BTW; You don't have to use the "quote" button to respond to a previous post, especially if it is long.

aVOLanche; This isn't going to make your day, but that light engine IS in stock. I think the problem is your extender service company. The retail price is $1,000 (plus shipping).

Yes and no.The problem is blooming(halos). The extended warrantee company had a tech diagnose the problem as needing a LE.I know that I could try to fix the problem with a cleaning of the lens.....but there goes the warranty(which is for 3 more years, including unlimited bulbs).

Anyone interested in a 2007 WD 65831 with approx. 5,000 hours and 3 years full warranty including bulbs..." make me a valid offer "
I live in Staten Island, and would be willing to deliver this up to 50 miles.

You're right and I'm one more phone call to GE from doing the cleaning. The TV has already been serviced for the thermal sensor problem,so that "tech" probably left stuff loose(ahem).

Wow, nice find videobruce! Since the 732 is chassis V33+ and my 831 is V34, I'm hoping that 8.03 you heard about works in the V34 chassis also (I currently am running 8.02). Can you name your source?

Outlaw; The size is in the model number. I would try Craigslist.

bwall23; It should be the same software. The only fifference between chassis is the lamp/ballast with the higher output and probably the optics. The source is the source. Mits in California (not India or wherever their outsourced company is located).

Bruce,
I'm thinking that there is a good chance that GE Warranty will offer me a new TV for my WD-65732.Do you know if the same light engine has been used through the different models of the WD-6573x?Is the LE the same on the 31,32,33,35,36?Reason I'm asking is,that if I do get an offer of a replavement, has the TV been improved since the 65732?Or should I look at something else(like the Samsing dlp with no bulb)? Thanks!

If I remember correctly this 'halo' issue has been with these sets for some time (feel free to correct me on this anyone).
I would go with a Sammy LED driven DLP. Period. Greensidh TV on the planet. Complete opposite of a Plasma. Like comparing Rapid Transit to a Hummer.

Just too bad it doesn't have two RF inputs, TVGOS & 1394 outputs (for AVHDD's). All of which are useful, pratical and worthwhile.

gadgetttboy, that doesn't sound like the halo/blooming issue to me. What I saw with my set was not dominated by any one color, it was just a general loss of contrast with white halos around high-contrast edges.

my 2 year old 73831 has started serious banding issues.
anything dark shows banded layers of black instead of smooth.

i have about 4200 hrs and replaced a lamp at around 2000.
anyone else have a banding issue?

1) I just got a Denon 1909 and in settings it asks for choosing:
YCbCr , RGB or Auto.

If the 734 is native for YCbCr, am I correct that it would be best to select YCbCr, instead of Auto? Doing some moving to different inputs (or other video changes, I can't recall), screen goes black for a few seconds. There is about a 5 second delay using VCR, when I hit rewind or play from rewind, etc. (video thru 'yellow' video cable to AVR).

2) Is it normal for there to be some delay when video goes thru the AVR (esp. analog from VCR) ?

3) With my previous (non-HDMI AVR), I ran video directly to the TV. I am not really sure of the benefit of running video thru the Denon 1909 AVR...

(Using HDMI from BD55 player & Comcast DVR Box to AVR-1909, then HDMI to WD-73734.)
