Still loving my HLS7178 although I did have to replace the light engine about 4 years ago and now my light tunnel failed and I had to replace it. Botched up the repair (the light tunnel is a *itch to get out and get back in without breaking a tab .. there is a ridge on the metal block that the DMD board is connected to that makes it difficult) and had to find a used part on eBay which fortunately cleaned up the shadow (except for a maybe 1/8" blue shadow on the top left about a foot long that is hardly noticable but is driving me nuts! .. probably won't fix it though in fear that I may make things worse) .. The picture on this TV is still fantastic and looks much better than even the new 4K LCDs (obviously, running 1080p, not 4K). The screen door effect on LCDs just drives me nuts! Waiting for OLEDs to get bigger and cheaper.
Point of this post: I noticed that the picture is actually too large (is this what they call "overscan?") and I am missing top, bottom, left, right .. maybe about 1/2" to 3/4" all sides (I have a second TV in the room and there is scrolling info and banners that are not in the 7178's picture). Is this a "service menu" adjustment, or is this a mechanical adjustment? I know how to physically manipulate the DMD board to adjust the position, but that is not the problem. The whole picture is slightly too big. Unlike the other Sammy DLPs, there are no "white" horizontal/vertical adjustment knobs on the light engine (at least, that I can find).
