I'm hoping the A2000 will be less noticable and on fewer sets. If so, then that's a positive as the XBR1 are well known for being more noticable and more frequent.

So far we have one A2000 that has a faint color uniformity. Compare that the XBR1's record. So which do you think he should choose?

yes but the A2000 has only been out 3 weeks, i wonder what it'll be like in 6 months time

I realize that the color uniformity issues may persist with these sets as well, but I am holding out hope that the brighter bulb may mean a screen with less gain and possibly decreased SSE, which bothers me more than the reddish haze I see with the A2000.

mr foo have you considered having ABT just replacing the set with another A2000? It might not have any problems at all. Then you would have a working A2000 while you thought about the XBR2.

This, given that the set has only been out for 3 weeks and also given the limited number of people that have reported their findings. Granted, there are a number of AVS'ers probably who have bought and are pleased but don't post here. These cases don't necessarily reflect that there isn't a problem with there sets - they may not notice the issues yet (or will ever). It's very subtle - jury is still out on the A2000 regarding this specific issue.

Add the level of pickiness to many of the AVS owners. Lets be honest, what many people here see as a problem, most people buying at CC, Bestbuy, ABT, etc. don't have any clue or notice any difference. They could own the set for 5 years and never know or care if it can properly deinterlace 1080i, has color uniformity issues, doesn't do full screen on VGA, etc. AVS makes up a very very small percentage of the buying public Sony answers to and are by far the most discriminate viewers of their products.

The deinterlacing, and VGA/DVI/HDMI full screen PC issues won't affect most people, however, the color uniformity/green blob issue is a different animal. This is something you can actually SEE. The green blob isn't pickiness.....if you think it is then you are as clueless as the people you are talking about. This is a major defect in LCOS technology. And it looks like the A2000's are going down the same road as the XBR1.

I recently had a friend over. We watched my green-blob-infected R60XBR1. It was his first time seeing the set. I didn't say anything about the green blob. I wanted to see whether he'd notice it. He didn't.

As he was about to leave, I told him about the problem (along with the fact I would be getting the 2006 model in order to fix the problem.) Once told of it, he could see it easily. He said he never noticed it until I pointed it out.

Make of that what you will.

Very nice detail in the HDNET test screen you provided. What number line down the left side can you read in person. I could read line # 7 in the picture ! What does the reading mean? I'm seriously considering this set to replace a 40"XBR direct view as the main TV in my media room. Once I get the TV set up I'll do some side by side comparision of the A2000 vs. a CRT direct view. Also, post more screen shots, GREAT!

And yours is REALLY infected!!! As I have said many, many times before. I am sure that a lot of these sets are infected, but most people just don't see it.

Perhaps. However, he's a real straight shooter. I told him in advance, before he saw the set, what a great picture it had, and how superior it was to both my old set and the majority of current sets on the market today.

Then there's the fact he's a computer programmer and a musician. He's very familiar with AV equipment. He hosts networked "jam" sessions where musicians all over the world collaborate over the internet in live performances--both audio and video. He writes audio codecs. He's not your typical tech-illiterate consumer.

Does the 50A2000 have the same size and shape footprint as the 2005 XBR1?

I'm not sure exactly I did to improve the SD, most likely several small tweaks. Sorry I can not be of help.

No green though, at least not yet, (keeping a happy thought!)

No problems yet here as well. Just a great pic. I hope those with the problems are able to get it resolved. I would be pissed, and will be if my set develops these problems. How do other owners feel about this sets ability to handle motion well?

Name me another technology that bleeds colors onto the screen. Name me another technology where colors have to be at the proper operating temperature to display evenly? Why do you think Toshiba, Philips, etc got out of the LCoS business? Someone just posted that they saw the green blob on the Qualia. Are you 100% positive the JVC NEVER had color uniformity problems?
