I should have mine in 10 days. I'd still LOVE some recommendations on a stand? Should stand discussion go in this thread or a seperate one?

Isn't that the same place that someone posted earlier is an empty house for sale? Since they have the 55" on their websire for under 2 G's, I would question it. Anyone else ever buy from these guys? The prices seem to good to be true. The 60" is on their site cheaper than the MSRP for the 50"

Your post just scared the heck out of me.

When you said that you just read a super bad review of "them" I thought you might have been talking about a bad review of the a2000 (not of some online retailer). My heart's rhythm is now coming back.

Now that the owner's have had some time with their sets, how about some reviews? What's good and bad about the sets? Any problems so far? Any features that are particularly useful?

I read a couple reviews already in this thread, just wanted to see what other people think.

Yeah, there haven't really been any reviews yet. A few owners were nice enough to give their initial impressions but that's about it. I would like to thank Mr. Foo for giving lots of feedback and running some tests for us. C'mon, let's get some reviews now!

The A2000 is on my short list (th58px60u? another 60ish lcd, maybe flat? any recs?) and i need to assess its geometry for where i intend to put it. is the enclosure the same as the dimensions of the E2000? there is an E2000 locally i can measure up but not an A2000. i need to know not only how deep (which is easily obtained), but the dimensions of the part of the enclosure that sticks out in the back. thanks in advance.

Well, I'm proud to say that I can finally be "legally" involved with in this owners thread. American TV told me this morning that the in stock date of the A2000's has now been pushed back to August 20th. Knowing that, I decided to call my salesman at Abt Electronics and place my order on an (in stock) 60" A2000!!! It could have been delivered here tomorrow, but I decided on an August 1st delivery date (a week from tomorrow) to give my wife and I time to finish up the remodeling project of the room that the set will go in. If I had that television here tomorrow, ain't nuttin' gettin' done around here. The carpet goes in on Monday, the furniture will be in on Monday night, and the set will be setup in all it's glory on Tuesday (of next week). WOO HOO!!! Erik Wold at Abt Electronics is the best!

I just received my 60A2000 from ABT. I was returning the 5687W from Samsung. Biggest improvement for me is the lack of noise from the SD channels at DirecTV. With the Sammy, the picture was mostly noise. With the 60A2000 it is almost HD like.

Hookup is HDMI out of my HR10-250 into my Denon 5805MKII. HDMI out over 44 ft to Video6 (HDMI on 60A2000.

No regrets here. Picture is IMO better than last years XBR1. More to come later.

So MisterJensen, you ended up being an SXRD man instead of a H-DILA man...humm. At last tell you were waffling between SXRD and H-DILA.

I'll be getting mine tomorrow morning. I too returned a Samsung (6188) because of the video noise. I could not stomach all the noise and distortion that I saw.

Here's a picture of the address registered via Whois for the website. Cardinal Rule - they have no contact or address listed on their website. This picture is from a Fraud Notification Site by a Photographer that checks these folks out. http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/

These store front pictures are hilarious. Nonetheless, I have ordered from 2 sites on his list and have not had any serious problems. When you use your CC you are protected from fraud. The only real risk is that you are going to get put off and receive your item super late or not receive it at all and eventually get your money back. That is a big risk remember, but if you are willing to take it to save 300 or 400 bux, go for it.

If viewing from 8-9 ft. would the 60" be too big?

I am at 8.5' - 9' and because the margins on the 60" are better, and the retailers have more wiggle room I am going to go with the 60" and I CANT WAIT!

JNelson, thanks for turning me on to ABT, the customer service is amazing...looking forward to hearing more from you about the PQ of your new set!

Thanks!

I hope not, I'm buying a 60" for about an 8' (just a few inches under 8') viewing distance for the main/closest seats.

When watching the HQ Sony Hawaii feed on the 50" XBR1s, I felt I could get quite close to the set (maybe 4 or 5 feet) without noticing any distracting pixelation. This prompted me to go big with the 60". SSE is a bit more noticeable at close distances. Sony themselves suggests at least a 7' viewing distance for the 60" a2000. At 8' viewing distance I would suggest deciding between a 55" and 60" SXRD if you want the full experience.

They have an A200 on its way to CNET for review and are asking readers what they would like to know about it. I can't post a link yet, but go to thier "what's new" page for July 24
and look under the blogs heading.

Just placed my order at sonystyle.com for the 50" and the stand

I will be getting it the 14th (well if it ships before then) when I move into my new apartment. The TV will probably come before I get the satellite set up so, when I get it, I will put up a ton of pics and videos and what not, first of the set and stand, and then when HD comes, of HD goodness. So far we really have not gotten many pics.

Anyways, please post some high quality pics to hold me over til the 14th!

If you want, I could host a few on my school's server, just PM me.

Just grabbed mine from ABT today. It should be here next week, can't wait. They price matched even though the TV wasn't in stock at the other website. Talk about great people.

Most online reputable retailers will ONLY price match if:

1. Item is in stock
2. Authorized Sony dealer

No, J&R was a preorder and ABT has them in stock. Therefore, did not qualify.

Update on 1stopplasma.com - my A2000 has shipped out and I'll have tracking info tonight. I did let 'em talk me into some extended warranty & service plans that were being offered direct from Sony, and I bought the matching Sony stand at a considerable discount. So I've added about 1k to my order.
