My cousin recently bought a 65" 732 for 1200. I bought a Samsung 50" 1080i HL-S5086W for $1200 in September. I'm pretty happy with it but I can't help but wish for more. Jokingly I offered my cousin a trade, my Samsung and 700 bucks for his 732. To my surprise he accepted.

Now I don't know too much about the 732 series in terms of image quality and reliability. Should I go ahead with this trade? How does the 732 handle SD channels? Does it automatically covert every signal? Please help me out. If this is a good deal I want to be able to do it right away before he changes his mind. Thanks.

well, if you have seen his set personally and have viewed all the different types of sources that you will be viewing and was pleased with it, then I don't see why not.

I heard that the set can't do 1080p over component. Is this true?

The Mitsubishi is a great TV and has gotten lots of good reviews. To answer your question it only takes 1080p through the 2 HDMI ports and DVI, only 1080i through component. Digital SD channels look great, analog not so good, and everything is converted to 1080p except when hooked up to the DVI input. My parent have your TV and I have the 57731 and I love my mitsu, plus you are getting a huge size upgrade, your cousin must be crazy.

Thanks alot. The Mitsu is too large for my cousin's apartment and my 50" is a much better option size wise for him. Plus he only paid 1200 for the 65732, so by me giving him 700 bucks and my set, it's as if he paid 500 for a 50" Sammy. As for me I'm getting a nice upgrade in size and quality.
