Can anyone who has actually seen the **A750s in operation comment on the horizontal and vertical viewing angles?

Thanks,

Wes

The horizontal viewing angle was very good. I still think the SXRD is a little better in this regard. The vertical angle was more unforgiving, but still acceptable considering the technology (RPTV) and how large it is.

w00t, found a website posting ads and prices. I won't put the price in this post per forum rules. But check out link:
http://www.onsale.com/search/search....s&id=229886896

If this pricing holds true I will definitely be picking up the 61A750! As long as the reviews hold up of course

The older model 61" is $1200.00 MORE than the new 67"?

Obviously a mistake there somewhere.

On the other hand, I'll take two....

That depends on the type of material you view, your eyesight and your tastes. Some people like an immersive experience, like in the front row of a movie theatre, in which case you might want to be as close as 8 1/2 feet (1 1/2 times the screen size). However, at that distance you would probably want to be watching a really good HD feed, such as Blu-ray. SD or overcompressed HD would look grainy.

For the type of signals that most of us watch over the regular channels, a more typical distance is 2 to 2 1/2 times the screen size, which for a 67 inch set is 11 to 14 feet. But bottom line it's your home and your TV.

Myself I sit 11 feet back from my 52 inch set (a ratio of 2 1/2) and it's fine for the mix of SD and often second-quality HD I get over satellite, but as more good HD becomes available I will want at least one size bigger the next time I buy.

Maybe i missed it in the thread, or maybe i am stupid, but about the new sets coming, when it says 61" and 67" coming in April and June, does that mean the 61" will be available in April and the 67" will be available in June or what?

Also, are these going to display it at 240hz like the signs at CES mentioned? With Darkchip4?

I really hope so but right now we don't know. I'm sure someone on this forum knows but probably under an NDA. Hopefully in the next few weeks more details will come out.

I'm hoping for an early April release for the 61A750.

This also seems promising... I'm just hope they fixed the bowing problem. I'm a hair away from getting the Mitsubishi now. I just looked at 2 more current Samsun LED 61" sets at a different BB... the first had minimal bowing the 2nd had bowing consistent with the lamp based model --- not good! I hope they wouldn't even think of putting out another series of defective sets.

I'm just on the edge... do I wait for this led 61 tv and hope it's okay or do I just pull the trigger and go for the 65" Mitsubishi WD 65833 that I know is spectacular. It's a lamp... but I'm not sure if I care too much about that. i just want a solid tv that has a great picture for a decent price.

I saw the likely real MSRP for the new 61" via the link above, what do you think the typical out the door price will be from the normal online sources that we talk about?

Unless the Mit is going away fast why not hold on for two months? By then we should have reviews rolling in. I currently have a CRT HDTV. Big thing for me is motion blur playing video games. I would like to see how the new Sammys handle video games.

DLP's don't suffer any motion artifacts or blurring. 16 micro second response. With CRT RPD's you have convergence alignment to periodically perform, with DLP's its always sharp with no convergence required.

Might be several hundred less, depends on demand and availability for 6 series. For 7 series probably not that much discounting initially.

No news concerning what DLP chip will be used, I suspect they will be DarkChip 4 based.

One party talking to CES floor staff said they will display 1080P/24hz. Again between Samsung and TI all is quiet with no information released or leaked.

Thanks JohnAV. I'm in a real quandry here. I always feel like I'm waiting for the "right" time and that the "right" thing is always just a couple months away. My new room will be done in about 2-3 weeks. It will be a big deal to wait 2 months and probably one more before you start hearing the good and bad about the sets. I think the 65833 is a great tv... today... has the picture and the quality build I'm looking for. Granted it's lamp based, but I don't know that I care about that too much. I thought about the current 61" LED Samsung, but it has the older version HDMI. Not sure if that's a big deal or not, but the Diamond sets already have the latest version. There's really no good answer for me at this point that has definitively steered me one way or the other. The only good thing is that at least i'm an informed buyer and that's gold.

In case someone gets a chance to question a knowlegeable, but unnamed Samsung source, remember that there are a minimum of two parts to the 1080p/24hz question: 1. Can the units accept a 1080p/24hz signal (over which inputs?). 2. How does the unit process the 24hz signal for display? Does it do a multiple of each frame to present the equivalent of 1080p/48hz, 1080p/72hz, 1080p/120, etc. or does it do some funky pull-down to convert the signal to 1080p/60hz. Using the "multiple" approach is suppose to be superior to the pull-down.

MSRP is $3199 for HL67A750. Probably see it sold online for $2899 is my guess.

I would agree, but given the issues with the last series of Samsung that had no fixes, I'm just concerned. I have yet to hear that they even acknowledged the problem in any real way. I don't want to wait and wait... only to find out 4-6 months later my screen is bowing.

I they would come out and address the issue... or say that the frame is different and was redesigned to eliminate the bowing, then I'd wait.
