Have you had one in your home? If not you can't really say what you think of the PQ ability as a store is not a place to make any judgements.
I will say these sets really appreciate a calibration.
The viewing angle is almost exactly the same as the Sony KDS-60A3000 I had previously.

Thing about the 6187 is the viewing angles. For me that killed it.
E-A-G-L-E-S's Avatar E-A-G-L-E-S 12:03 PM 03-14-2008
I don't know. My living room has a three person couch and a recliner with a table in between and all seats are within the "sweet spot" range and are only ~9' away.
Same angles as Sony A3000's series and doesn't seem much worse at all than my old DLP which was a HL-S5087W.
Vertically it is not as good, but what does that really matter?
To each their own though.

I was at BB the other day and had a chance to view the Sammy LED and bulb units side by side....albeit in a TERRIBLE location about 5ft above the floor up on a shelf. From what I saw, the bulb unit was MUCH brighter, more contrasty, and the brightness held up waaaay off to the sides. The LED was dull by comparison. I have NO idea what kind of calibration was done to either of the sets (if any), but perhaps they cranked up the brightness on the bulb model in order to "move the merchandise". All I know was that the LED model (61", 76 model) failed to impress ANY folks who walked by. People WERE checking out all the new LCD's, though.
E-A-G-L-E-S's Avatar E-A-G-L-E-S 01:46 PM 03-14-2008
Of course they were checking out the lcd's. In a showroom the lcd's are light blasters and people get confused.
I will say that the LED versions are more than bright enough and too bright at night.
The vertical viewing angle is not as good on these sets as the lamp versions.
If you want to see a clean/clear image from a sever angle then plasma is your ticket.

Isn't the 76 model the bulb model?

Yes it is, only the xx87s, xx89s, xxa750 are LED models. The HL-T6176S is a bulb model.

And the HL-T7288W I believe

My mistake....the unit was an "87" model, and it had a large "LED" placard attached to it. Trust me, it was the LED model. Salesman also commented on it...while trying to push the plasmas.

Nope. That is a lamp as well. For some reason it has been listed at various places as having LED.

The 61A750 is in our system to special order and stock numbers are shown in the warehouse that our store pulls inventory from

Just a heads up. Special orders generally take 3-5 days. I am waiting on the 67 to show up and I will likely be swapping my 6187S for it.

CC btw

Any questions, feel free to ask

I have never tried putting a link to a website before, but here goes.
http://www.thehighdefinitionstore.co...dlptv-423.html

They are an authorised dealer, give an honest price, free shipping. And you can do a back-order.

This site shows MSRP to be $2399. This is also the pre-order price at Amazon and Crutchfield, so I assume that is the MSRP. When the sets were first announced, MSRP was listed at $2699 (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=971265).

Interesting..I wonder if Samsung was worried about sales and decided they needed to lower the price to stay competitive. Or possibly the TV is barely improved from the '07 model, so they couldn't justify a big increase.

Yes, but The High Definition Store.com is the only one of the above that shows their price discounted $345. from MSRP.

Has anyone shopped The High Definition Store?? Are they reliable? If so I may go ahead and order from them.

They have a **** return policy, I just talked to them. basically, you have to deal with Samsung and thats it unless its physically damaged.

I have a feeling you are right, but at least we can hope for 15000:1 contrast ratio? It was said that these 08 models where going to be 40% brighter then last years LEDs...

No news is bad news. I have never seen such little press on a TV 2 weeks from release. They have practically thrown parades year after year with these things. When I pre ordered my bulb based HLS5087W 2 years ago I knew the specs 2 months in advance.

You can expect HDMI 1.3 and thats about it, just make sure they didn't put these in the ultra slim cabinet like the 6176 series. I have an interest in both the 650 and 750 because when I tested the 6187 the picture wasn't even close as far as black level and I don't care who tells you different. I owned 4 different Samsung HDTVs and so far the LED versions are amoung the poorest picture, poorest viewing angel amount the rear projection HDTVs out there. Reviews out there agree with me so the fact that they arent touting new features by now is a very bad sign.

Its my opinion that Samsung will release these models and leave the RPTV market after this year like everyone else. That said, I will still lead the parade on a HL61A650 If they took them out of those stupid ultraslim cabinets.

Anyone tried emailing Samsung about Dc4 yet? Those models are definitely in production now and there is no point of hiding any more for Samsung..
DC4 @ Cedia maybe? lol
