Hi,

I have a Sony KV-30XBR910 with some geometry and convergence issues. I do not trust myself to toy around with the service menu, but I love the set and would love to get everything as close to right as possible. I am unfamiliar with display calibration services and am curious if anyone has any insight or recommendations regarding getting my set worked on in Colorado Springs, CO. Thanks a lot.

Hello,

Your display calibrates well, and thanks for considering calibration! Since this display is analog the geometry will not come out perfect, but it can be improved. Look here http://www.isfforum.com/sobi2/ISF-Fo.../Colorado.html for some ISF calibrators that service your area.

Thanks for the response! I typically visit this site via the iPhone app and for some reason this thread never updated so I presumed there was no response. Thank you, as now I have found a local calibration service.

All CRT have geometry problems.. My 34inch XBR910 does along with my Samsung 26inch CRT, but only noticeable when gaming.. What it cuts off isn't really important, & Sony went out of their way for the owner to configure any geometry problem.. But a qualified ISF technician could do a better job.. I hear a properly calibrated 910/960 is truly stunning..

It is! We own an xbr960 and it produces an amazing image. Beautiful color points (gamut) and great grayscale.

Thanks Joe. I was never impressed with the PQ on Kill Bill until last night.. My jaw hit the floor watching the film on the 910.. The contrast.. lighting & blacks, were just amazing.. I kept rewinding scenes.. Makes my 26inch Samsung HD CRT look muddy..SFP is no joke.

How do you clean a XBR Sony with the anti glare cover.. I notice small smudges when the TV is off.. It's minor, I only notice it when I look from a certain angle, but I want the smudges gone..

Hello,

On RPTV mirrors I use Sprayaway Glass Cleaner. It's fairly gentle and works well. YMMV.

Yeah I typically only notice the issue(s) when playing games - menus and anything with straight horizontal/vertical lines/edges.

Sorry to respond on such an old thread, but unfortunately the only local person that does calibration does not service CRT's anymore. I suppose the search continues...

Very frustrating as a gamer. I think consoles to some degree are to blame. I believe they were made with flat panels in mind. I'm getting mine calibrated to fix this problem.
