When I had an 34XBR960 CRT & Kuro in the same room I noticed the CRT did have a little more depth than the Kuro but the Kuro had a much punchier picture & higher ANSI contrast ratio. I still own both TV's and sadly the CRT's Convergence & Focus have slipped over the years, The Kuro still looks fantastic.

XBR960 purchased in 2005, Kuro late 2007 but I'm willing to bet the Plasma has many more hours of use at this point.
