Hello everyone!

In the process of purchasing an HD CRT of a local neighbour, but im torn between a few models:

34XS955 vs 34XBR800 vs 34HS510. If you could choose anyone, which set is better and why?

More importantly, the 34XBR800 vs 34HS510?

Read that the HS510 is an older version of the xbr800, both are identically equipped, just one was released before the other set and had more expensive parts due to its early release.

Cmon guys, let give the sony hd crts some genuine interest!

I think you got the title wrong? The 34XS955N is the best of the three as it has a super fine pitch aperture grille. The other two are hi-scan models.

thanks for the reply, truly appreciated

but the aside xs955 aside, the HS510 and the XBR800; they're basically the same in terms of performance, picture quality, etc? Im actually about to purchase one, but have two offers on the table, just cant decide which one to get!

Could anyone provide some suggestions as per ownership of one of the models, which one is better?

There is already a HUGE Sony CRT tweaking thread. This late in the game, there's no reason to start another one.

As for your question. The XBR800 is older than the HS510 by a few years. The XBR800 was upgraded to an XBR910 the year the HS510 came out. The HS510 and XBR800 are essentially the same except that the XBR800 has adjustable DRC, which only effects low quality SD inputs. More expensive parts? BS.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin
