Personally I would go with the Sony. I bought a 34" Tosh. and the picture is fine but the build quality is much cheaper than the Sony.

But, my local Costco has the 36" Toshibia for $1399 right now. Not bad.

BEWARE the uneven brightness inherent in the Sony KV line. Once you notice it, you will hate it. It cannot not be seen. :( The XBR line does not suffer from this nearly as much and can only be seen if you are really looking for it over a dark image.

Look at the physical dimensions. The Panny is very small and fits in my cabinet. Sometimes these small things make a difference if all else is equal.

I'm also looking for a 36" TV. And I am considering the JVC 36P902. It's the only set with DVI/HDCP in the market at the moment.

It's quite hard to find information on this set, but you can find some information on hdtvoice forum. There's a guy that has this set and post a lot of good information. According to him, this set has better picture than the Sony, Toshiba and Panny.

I can't say for myself, cause I couldn't find it in any local store. I'll try to do see it and if it's as good as the Panny and Sony, I'll probably get it because of the DVI/HDCP.
