I bought this tv fully knowing that it had the common only turns on from a cold boot 6 blinking lights. So I replaced the two MCZ3001D IC's on the D board. I first replaced the one closest to the tube transformer since it was easier to do. That still left me with the 6 blinking lights. So I replaced the other one. As soon as I plugged the tv in there was an audible pop sound ( no smoke or smell) that came from around that second MCZ3001D. There are no popped capacitors. There are no shorts in my solder joints. Now I have 3 blinking lights.

Any ideas?

no ideas about pops

but my sony went to 3 blinks after I swaped the replaced chips
I used sockets and just moved the chips to the other sockets when it was blinking again
this restored function for a few weeks
then it need the hairdryer trick [heat] to restart
when the 3 blinks began

so try the hairdryer after checking the chips/sockets solder joints
and try swaping the chips into the others sockets
