I have an old Proton CRT, that used to be fancy.

It has a loose connection in the cabinet that needs to be fixed (picture goes out, but looks fine when working), and the phosphors have faded slightly, but it's otherwise fine. It's a NT-337, manufactured in 1994. It has component and svideo in, along with the usual RF and composite connections, fixed and variable audio out, and speaker terminals.

Are there hobbyists in L.A. who would want this thing? I feel bad taking it to eWaste recycling, but that's the plan for this weekend.

You can always try giving it away on Freecycle or the FREE section of Craigslist...
