I'm having a problem with colors blurring on my Sony KV-34HS420.
I've attached a photo to illustrate.
1. Notice how the white of the eye extends into the flesh color of the nose, so that there is a red stripe. The red gradually fades back to the original flesh.
2. Notice how the black of the moustache extends into the flesh. This appears as yellow over flesh.
3. Notice how the white from the badge extends into the tan of the jacket.
The blur is horizontal across the scan line on the CRT. (The photo is tilted).
This problem is very noticeable in animation, not as much in live action.
The problem occurs regardless of the input (cable, dvd, etc) or the interface (hdmi, rgb, etc).
My gut feeling is that it is a blown capacitor in a high bandwidth filter. So, in theory, the filter is now low pass, and the signal isn't able to make the high frequency transition from whites of the eyes to the skin.
If my gut feeling is correct, it's probably a $1 capacitor, with $150 in labor to diagnose. Not to mention transporting a 180lb TV to a repair shop.
Has anyone seen this problem before? What was the solution?
