I've been peeping in and out of these forums for weeks now and found this site to be a valuable resource in figuring out what HD CRTs to look for. Well, I recently got lucky and found the AV-27S776 and purchased it for $40! Now I can take advantage of some last gen graphical fidelity in 4:3 and 16:9, have no input lag or response times issues, and use old light guns! However, after taking a closer look at the manual, which you can download from here
if you wish, it seems to only mention 480p in relation to its "Digital-In" port. That port is the HDMI port on the back. I was hoping someone here might know if I really can't display 480p over the component inputs on the TV. If not, I'm sort of at a loss on my end. I can't seem to find an affordable component to hdmi converter where an HDMI output of 480p can be selected. The TV's manual states that it supports 720p, but everything I've read indicates that HD CRTs just upconvert 720p to 1080i.
Again, I want to thank the enthusiasts here for providing so much information on these elusive televisions. You guys rock!
