I live in Europe, and all the Sony FD Trinitrons I have seen do not have YPbPr inputs, while the American models do. Are all like this, or have I missed some? I know that SCART is the alternative, but I am uncertain if my equipment supports enhanced definition signals through this.

SCART is only a plug format and not a video format; it can carry various analogue video formats if the devices support them including composite, S-video, RGBS and YPbPr. There are converters that let YPbPr cables be plugged into a SCART input.

I don't think any mainstream Sony CRTs sold in Europe supported HD. I don't know about enhanced definition.

Generally Japanese CRT TVs sold in Europe were castrated of the electronics to process HD inputs because of the lack of HD broadcasts and general ignorance of HD at the time. There were some HD CRTs sold in Europe but not many and often the HD support went unadvertised to and unknown by the purchasee.

No HD at all? Not even the latest Trinitrons made after HDMI's introduction?

Throw out some model numbers and someone may be able to help determine whether the TV supports only SD, ED or HD via the SCART interface.

These are the ones I could find, excluding some 4:3 models that I don't want unless otherwise convinced.

Ok, I probably don't need 720p, 480p is enough. Do the aforementioned TVs support it?
