I was never enamored of the Front and Rear Projection CRT sets. Some Front CRT projectors however.

EDIT: Didnt know there was a Rear Projection forum!

My brother and his best friend had a the Mits in the 90s. At the time, it was a sight to behold. I bought a 36" Proscan in 2000 that I thought was the bomb. In '05, I stumbled upon some 36" monitors. Around that time, I made the move to front projection. I have been through most of the great CRT FPs. Right now, I have two Sony G70s and two G90s. I still have a Sony direct view, but no direct view touches the front pjs.

I remember seeing this in the showroom of an upscale A/V store in the mid to late 90s. You can find them on searchtempest (craigslist multi-city search engine).
I saw one of these today at a yard sale in Denver. The guy wants $5 for it if anyone is interested I will put you in touch.

It was working with a good picture sitting in this guys front yard about half and hour ago. If I had somewhere to put it I would get it! Manufacturer date is May 1995

Still like my 34 inch wide screen 1080i Sony. There is just something about it that makes it pleasing to watch. It's not too pleasing to try and move.

i guess it depends if you mean TV, Monitors, or both

when it comes to monitors there are three options

GDM-F520 --> sharpest image
GDM-FW900 --> widescreen, but varying AG pitch
GDM-C520K --> best colors

How about the Qualia 015. Saw it in Tokyo back when it was new and it was stunning. It was Y1.3m or around US$11,000.

I don't think there would be any great difference in the Q015 compared with the HR36 and 36HR500. It has fancy cosmetic enhancements but it's more or less the same TV underneath. The menus look the same as the HR36's. Perhaps at that price it was factory calibrated.

Here's a predecessor HD widescreen Trinitron model, from 1992!

Someone claimed those Qualias had higher quality components, hand built, etc. Pic and sound differences enough to spend that much more on? Probably not.

Check out this classic RCA 25" (if greater Dallas free ad still up but I doubt anyone is racing over to get it):

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/zip/4667737598.html

Looks like a high-end model, 'Digital Command' and check out the fancy remote. Still appears to be in great shape and has the manuals and brochures, hope it doesn't get scrapped (be a good movie set prop).
