1.
Will component inputs on 27 inch tvs (around $300-$400) make a big/small/any difference compared to svideo?

i understand that it will on front projectors, and rptv, and probably larger dtv's... but on a fairly small 27 inch?

2.
then off course the natural question :D : Anyone have any suggestion of a good 27 inch dtv for cheap (keyword cheap)

thanks

I'm a little confused by your question. The cheapest 27" TVs with component input are analog TVs, not "dtv's" (digital TVs); they can display only good ol' fashioned (480 line interlaced) standard definition material, and they have no internal line doubler. Did you want a digital TV, that is, one that can accept and display at least a standard definition digital TV format such as 480p digital broadcast or 480p progressive DVD?

I'd say if you're going for a plain old 27" analog TV, component inputs are not a must. With 480I, the difference between S and comp are insignificant.

With the keyword being cheap--

Will you be able to tell? Well maybe. Side by side in the store - sure. When you have the set home - maybe not. The difference between composite and svideo is major. Between svideo and component minor.

If you are looking at an inexpensive set I would spend the extra $ on a higher quality set with just svideo. Remember if you use component video you will have to spend some more cash on a good set of cables($30 and up).

If it ends up costing $50 more for a TV with component video and you add in the $30 for cables your $80 in poorer for something which may not really add to your enjoyment. I would take the $80 and either buy a better set or use the $80 for something else.

On my now retired 60" Mitsubishi analog RPTV, component inputs made a big difference over svideo.
