Can edge enhancement on SD flat screen Toshiba CRTs (models xxafxx) be turned off?

I checked out a Toshiba 24af44 recently and noticed that the picture was too sharp and adjusting the user menu sharpness control did nothing to correct for this. I have read this is because of an edge enhancement feature that these Toshiba CRTs have automatically turn on. Some on forums have said that this edge enhancement feature can't be turned off. Does anyone know if this is true?

I also noticed reds on the 24af44 I checked out to be very intense. Have you noticed this on your Toshiba xxafxx CRT?

I accidentally posted this in the display calibration thread before.
