Okay, okay this might be a really dumb idea but nontheless I thought it would be fun. I have zipping aound this forum for a better part of a month. There are reallly some great and informative posts out there but there are also some really dumb, stupid, funny, mean, brutal put-downs, etc.

The object of this thread is to just post a link to the post you want to share. In the Title: only put what you think it is..like funny , stupid, smart, helpful.

So here is my contribution:

Funniest thing that i've read on AVS: The first line in post #16 by Dearth. I laughed out loud when i read it and almost spit coffee all over my keyboard and monitor ! For the next few days it would pop back into my head and i'd laugh again and again and even made my co-workers think i was going nuts.

The whole thread was frustrating cause the OP refused to identify his "CRT" despite many requests. It was a fun thread.

Just do an all AVS Forum search for the name "PikminZeez."

That's all I need to say.

You may have to go into the Archives for a minute or two to find some of the "lost treasure."

Kudos to KenTech for his informative and thoughtful posts on Sony PQ calibration. He went so far as to actually post a manual. We can only hope that others will follow his lead in posting knowledgable and helpful information.

Agreed. For the Direct View forum, if we're sticking strictly to that, I think Ken Tech, UMR, Micheal TLV, and any of those ISF and high roller tech guys like that easily win out for "best" candidates. :)

New recent installments under "worst". You know who. The brand name in the thread title is the give away. ;)

It's like a really bad series of episodes from "As the World Turns" broke out around here and we had the apparent, prolonged self-destruction of one individual over the course of these threads:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=578588

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=597518

These were the real mind blowers:

I've honestly never seen such a painful and prolonged self-implosion like this before. Incredible!

I wish I had that much time on my hands to manually delete my own posts...

He can't touch any of the material in the locked threads, so that stuff's saved for posterity... Those locked threads were the worst of it anyways.

Please read the two locked threads very carefully somewhere at the first page. squonk and Ratman started all these crap, making the thread off-topic suddenly, and then everybody came in to bash at me. It's all your fault. Go to hell...

Everybody, please read the two locked threads very carefully somewhere at the first page. They were all going fine until scotlandcap, squonk, and Ratman started all these crap. Shortly, everybody came in here and post nonsense stuff about me not relating to the topic. It's all your fault. Not my fault. Go to hell...

Waah, waah, waah. You had been gently approached by me, as well as others for quite a while asking you to "rethink" your posts and refocus your energy on something productive here. You not only didn't heed EVERYONES' sage advice, you actually got worse. Look at the amount of posts you have produced in the past month or so. Don't you have anything better to do?

I am sure the vast majority of people here---me included---wish you only the best, but sport, you brought all this on yourself. Everything was going along fine??????? For who? You? We had to read through your litter on this board to get to EVRYTHING else. Be considerate of everyone else on the board. It's all our fault? You amuse me.

You didn't post for like a whole day. I know that must have been difficult for you. PLEASE don't start your drivel here again. Just take a deep breath...and relax. Everyone is welcome here, but you need to acquire better judgement, better court-awareness.

I am done with you. And don't bother to reply, just use it as free advice.

Well I have to say I have seen some needless bashing to waltchan from a few members. Thats not what this forum is here for.

If you cannot post HT related info helping someone then dont post. Picking on someones language, age ect is simply not wanted here. Any members doing so will be banned. Lets all get along and be helpful.

It always stems from the same few members.

I certainly agree with you 100 percent, but this begs the obvious question: Why does this thread even exist and why was it allowed to stay open?

What useful purpose, in the context of AVS, its rules, and its charter, can a thread like this possibly serve?

I was amazed that you came in here earlier and signed off on this thing. This sort of thread couldn't be more against what AVS is about and what you just cited here, rightfully.

Surely we all know that, ultimately, there's no way a thread like this can end well.

You're right, but Walt, your problem has been: You keep adding fuel to the fire by responding to these people. Do you really think a response like "go to hell" and "No one care about my posts or me. Woe is me/ boo-hoo, I'm going to delete all my posts to draw attention to myself" does any good to de-fuse the situation?

You're just giving certain people more satisfaction.

The stuff towards the end of those five threads I linked to, and especially the first two, has to be some of the worst melodrama I've seen on the Internet in some time.

You're right. 9/10 times, at least, you never started it, but you really should have been reporting stuff to Alan and ignoring people instead of responding and raising the bar on melodrama and angst. That's what the forum moderators are here for. You should never have let things get out of control like that.

You really should start liberally adding the obvious hecklers to your ignore list and move on in peace and harmony. That's what the ignore function is there for. ;)

The melodrama is killing me. Suffering? Because some jerks write some crap on an Internet bulletin board?

Suffering is what I see on the news at night. C'mon now. :)

I agree. Alan, PLEASE shut the thread down.
